  1. I’m not too many years removed from the game, but if I known what I know now about CTE and other head injuries caused by football, i’d still play the the great game. We take risks everyday when we jump in a metal shell and drive 50-60mph to work. Yes, it worries me about the chances of brain issues later on in life, but if that’s God’s plan for me, then that’s how it’s supposed to be. Football taught me to be on time, listen to my boss, do my job to best of my ability, how to take orders, and how to get back up when I got knocked down. No other American sport teaches young men the lessons that football does when coached right. I’d do it all over again, 100% no doubt about it!

  2. So, is your son Union's first North Carolina recruit??? Sorry, I'm only kidding. Though, I thought I'd get that out of the way before someone else comes on here complaining... Welcome to the board...at least he didn't land in Richlands...

  5. Hello Everyone, I’m not new to the Forums, but I am a new member as I have joined today. My son has moved into the Big Stone Area. I am also a Native of the Wise County, hoping for magic and success for my son that is playing for Union rite now. I have been and watched many special games from Appalachia/ Powell Valley. A little bit of History we are from North Carolina, a lot of good Foot Ball between fall and Spring leagues. Fill free to message me if you have any Question, once again nice to meet everyone. Hoping for a safe and outstanding year.

  7. Welcome to Hell! Just kidding. This board is a great place to hang out and talk high school sports. Most members are pretty cool. Just make sure to become fluent in DOOKenese, if you try to read posts of one certain poster.

  8. One of the worst mistakes Virginia ever made was letting Manassas Park become an independent city. It has been a mess ever since in almost every way.

  9. Manassas Park and Manassas are Exhibit A and Exhibit B when it comes to gentrification. There are many examples, but this is the best. The minority population is just 29% of the total population of Manassas Park, but the minority population of Manassas Park High School is indeed 75%. That’s one of the more incongruous figures I’ve ever seen when comparing community and school demographics. Also incongruous is the fact that Manassas Park High School is 299th of 324 in testing data, yet has an AP participation rate of 60%. I can’t recall ever seeing something like that, either. It’s like a dystopian “Stand and Deliver”.

  10. I know better than to get involved in these "territorial pissings" but a few of these comments smack of racism and I'm reasonably certain Thomas Jones isn't one of the posters! Says more about the poster than the subject of the post!

  11. "TJ is affliated with a murderer, he's a racist, he's a liar" - Do indulge? I want to know more? Pretty sure not every person in BSG or that knew Thomas feels the same way! Just because Thomas moved away from the area, only comes home to see his parents, and left the town behind. I don't agree with Thomas political view, but he has a right to say and do anything he wants. I appreciate his successes, and glad to see him have them. Everyone has skeletons in their closet, and just because Thomas had one football camp or helped his own kind, doesn't mean he is what you call him. Many people that grew up with him think differently.

  12. We beat VT like a drum in almost everything else. VT fans are the ones fooling themselves if they believe the football superiority is worth being the little brother in the rest.
