I sat near the 50 yd line at the Ridgeview benefit game with Chilhowie. As I recall, the game was tied at 17 at half time. In the third quarter, Chilhowie scored on a 42 yd FG to make it 20-17 Chilhowie. Ridgeview got the ball and ran a series, but did not score. That was it as far as the first teams for the game. The 2's and 3's finished the game for both squads, with Ridgeview scoring 2 late TD's. The Adkins kid for RV did not carry the ball but about 1or 2 times in that 3rd quarter. I think he got shook up before half, and RV limited his play in the 3rd qrt. It was a very well played game for both squads in my opinion. The coaches for both teams did a good job in directing the format for the second half. These two teams are very good, and about even imo. One thing for sure. Ridgeview could not stop Chilhowie's Sanchez, and Chilhowie had their hands full with the Adkins kid. BOTH Blevins ( CHS ) and Sexton ( RV) did very well also. The QB's had a good game, and so did the D's. It was a benefit game, and all in attendance got the benefit of watching 2 good teams play.

I believe what he is trying to say is yes they are 9th and 10th graders but............the majority of them were held back in middle school. So technically they are supposed to be 10th and 11th graders. I am happy for those kids and their fans. They have stuck together to this point and done well. I just hope the Tazewell fan base over the next two years doesn't act like the Hurley fan base did two years ago. Enjoy the two year ride, have pride in your team and community but don't be so arrogant the rest of us can't stand you. Good luck Friday night to both teams. I think Graham wins this one.

Most of the Tennessee Kids that go to School at Gate City had Parents that lived in VA and bring there Kids to School there because they themselves went to GC. Now that North will be closing in the Future there will be more GC Parents who sent their Kids to TN come back to GC. About 70% or more GC Grads move to TN eventually to avoid the VA State Tax.

Ridgeview would beat Chilhowie by 21+.

It is. The only thing I know about St.Charles is a tale I heard that back before consolidation they were known as the Midgets. Well, guess what the elementary had on their jerseys....The Little Midgets. I find it very hard to believe but, if I am not messing it up, I got that on good account. Also, if anyone doesn't think Bluefield is the legit #1 around here right now, I have the number to a few doctors that can examine your eyes, head, sanity.... I get that his or her lack of acknowledging this at this point is more than likely out of spite, but is that the hill you want to die on? It's only week 2.

But now I will, since you deem to call me out for being a Burton hater. So, where in the hell even is St. Charles, Va. anyway? Sounds almost as remote as Rowe, Drill and Putnam are.

If I was to guess, he is saying the program is at the lowest it's been with a guy who seems to not care too much. It's a small town and people talk so word gets around pretty fast on what type of coach he is. He's not saying if you're not from GC you can't coach. For what ever reason, you've decided to attack somebody for his opinion on a program that he played in. The 2019 GC HC should make an appointment at every elementary school around the last day of school and put on a ridiculous presentation. Set up the 5 championship trophies. Blast the fight song. Roll out the cheerleaders. Have the seniors come out WWE style. Give a crazy speech & run around like you were on Ellen. If you want numbers, be proactive.

There is only one place you need to go: The Bearded Moose. You will not regret that decision one bit. Just get there a little early, it can be busy on game night.

A classic match-up, and always an exciting game to watch. Union is strong and consistent with the run. When they line up in the "T" it reminds me of the old GC teams under Harry Fry, 4-downs and a cloud of dust, only pass the ball to keep the LB's honest. Richlands runs the ball on occasion to keep the DB's honest, and they pass consistently with a multiple core of talented receivers. Looks like another game to be decided in the last minute of regulation. I'd give Richlands the advantage with the kicking game, and look for a last minute field coal to win the game. 247Sports dropped the 1st rankings for the 2021 Class and 2 of the areas own made the cut. Coming in with a lot of star power Isaiah Johnson is rated a 4* and the #7 Overall Nationally #1 CB & #1 in WV. Trenton Adkins comes in as a 4* #63 Nationally #3 ATH & #3 in VA. Great to see these guys having sucess early on and representing the area at a high level. I believe he's referring to lining up in the T and getting 3 yards and a cloud of dust. It's slow, predictable, and consistent. After a while, it drives the other team crazy when they can't stop "the drip."
