The football season is already underway and and we all know that the powers that be won’t be making any HC changes during the season. Any HC would probably not hurt the GC program more than it’s already suffering. However, I do hope they give Houseright the HC job once the season is over. He has rapport with the kids and would also try to get the youth program turned around and encourage the younger kids to play. We need not only a knowledgeable person in the HC position, but a person that will bring enthusiasm back to our programs as well.

Been out of town the last couple of days, but all through my high school years i was in the band and I am sorry this happened to anyone, but the timing was off up until the game actually kicked off. If you will remember the players lined up for kick off, and the anthem had yet to be played. I think the announcer wasn't organized, as sometimes happens at the first home game. Don't think Richlands meant anything wrong by what happened, and the team always follows that same routine at home games. As far as the game goes, the best team won, no doubt. The officiating was not the best by far, but it went both ways. I saw missed calls on both teams, and bad calls on both teams. It just seemed that the officials could not keep up with the players, and were out of position on critical plays. Once again, this happened to both teams and in my opinion did not alter the outcome of the game. Good luck to both teams and as fans, we hope for another match up down the road. Both teams played well, in my opinion, with some mistakes on both sides, but all in all a fun game to watch, and I think the best team won. Just goes to show what a great rivalry this has turned into.

I can't speak about Pulaski. I don't know much about this year's team. That's why I have yet to put them in my Top 10. I did see Abingdon play JSB. I was impressed. So many fans are ready to write a team off bc they didn't beat an inferior opponent by 50. The game of football (especially between good to great teams) is all about matchups. I may be way off bc of my lack of knowledge of Pulaski, but I'll risk it and take the Falcons in this one.

Folks talk about the Eastside TD called back but omit the fact that the Warriors were deep in Spartan territory several times early without cashing in. Central is very young,but there's more talent and offensive weapons there then there's been. RV should win this,but do not be shocked if it's much closer than these wide margains folks are picking on here.

I'll be surprised if this is close in the second quarter. I think the Bearcats have been padded a little bit. Pretty good group of players but probably finish third in district.

I wouldn't say FSU "gashed VT's defense", especially in the running game. FSU finished with 94 yards on 28 carries with 85 coming on one play. The other 27 carries resulted in 9 yards. With that said, VT should have had several more scores. VT made its fair share of mental mistakes resulting in points being taken off the board. As an unbiased observer married into a Hokie family, I'm not sold on Jackson as a quality QB either. He is inaccurate and makes bad decisions with the football at times. He made several bad decisions last night but FSU was ill-prepared to take advantage of them. A better prepared opponent would have capitalized on those mistakes. I agree that FSU wasn't prepared for this game but for anyone who watched Oregon last season, that seems to be a common theme for Taggert. I questioned FSU choice in replacement for Jimbo when they announced Taggert. I question it more-so now!
