Who won the game, fight wasn't much. If that had been at Hurley, people would have been Med Flighted out with arms and legs missing. lol

  2. The story: Richlands asswhooped a big rich high school in the state finals. Big Rich High complained like a bunch of bitches. The vh$l caved & suspended Richlands from the playoffs the following year. The ruling made the vh$l look like fools, allowed the Richlands coaches to be home for Thanksgiving, & accomplished little else.

    RESULTS Week 7 Top 10

This poll cracks me up....it obviously doesn't take into consideration class, right? So, how does a 2-3 record team rank higher than a 6-0 team? This basically boils down to "what school has the most people posting on this forum" poll.

  8. You hit on the major point; itā€™s all a matter of scale. 2016 Appomattox would have won the 3A title handily, and would have been a coin flip with Salem. They wouldnā€™t have been blown off the field against elite 5A/6A competition, but they just didnā€™t have that class of horses. Just like the Bluefield/Greeneville comparisons: Bluefield wouldnā€™t be blown off the field, but itā€™s just a different level of competition. As for matchups, Iā€™d love to see 2001 Graham against 2016 Appomattox. When that 2001 Graham team had its head screwed on right, it was scary what they could do to an opponent.

    GC @ Marion

I think #55 is doing a great job at guard. His drive blocking is beautiful. Too bad heā€™s not a twin so GC could have him in both spots. As Iā€™ve said before, I think the 2018 o line features three potentially all-region players. This is why is it extremely frustrating to continually watch the opposing defenders crunch GCā€™s backs as theyā€™re taking the handoff... and our pass protection: šŸ¤¢šŸ’©šŸ¤¢šŸ’©šŸ¤¢šŸ’©

  10. Appo and DR is a rivalry so yea it was close. But then Appo beat Union by 43 so what you said about Union beating DR is irrelevant. You can't base it off of other games.

    What would happen?

I'll participate here. 1979 Tijuana Brass vs. Phenix Horns (of Earth, Wind, & Fire) circa 1981. Who ya got? I'd put money on the support group for EWF, but I do think Herb Alpert's boys would fight dirty.

    What would happen?

Graham went 1-1 vs. Greeneville...40-7 victory at Mitchell Stadium in 2001 and lost 34-32 in 2002 (Bradshaw's SO and JR seasons).

  14. I've slept on it, very well too I might add! Let's try a different tact and see if we can both be civilized adults, shall we? By starting a topic titled "Richlands Controversy", you are opening up the potential for a free-for-all. I hope you can understand that. It may not have been intentional but of all the topics that tend to go very south in a hurry, anything slamming Richlands tops the list. Usually by a troll attempting to create chaos. Given you frequent the other site far more than this one, I attempted to head something off before it got started. In mentioning Ryan in my opening post, I simply meant he is a proud Richlands alumn and supporter as well as a moderator on this board. I felt like the topic needed to be monitored for the potential of it needing to be locked before it went off the rails. As for the thread on the other site, I have re-read the entire thing and came away with the same conclusion. Whether intentional or not, it felt as if you and a couple others were ganging up on me over something you were all completely wrong about. Here is further proof in the links provided. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/tebow-bill-defeated-by-virginia-education-committee/ https://www.richmond.com/news/virginia/government-politics/general-assembly/republican-led-education-committee-defeats-tebow-bill/article_90377982-7547-5e48-9d0e-d40004a82163.html Homeschool kids are not, nor have they ever been, counted toward public school enrollment figures in Virginia. As a matter of fact, the last 3 governors of Virginia have stated publicly, they would veto any bill that were to make it through the state House and Senate for signature into law. Grayson's enrollment figures aren't fluctuating very much as a result of homeschool children either way. The VBOE website states Grayson has 93 total homeschool children residing in the county. 93 kids spread across 13 grade levels would average out to be roughly 7 kids per grade level. So, if the Tebow law were in effect in Virginia, 28 kids wouldn't be much of a change for Grayson. Full disclosure, I was born and raised in Grayson County and a Grayson County High School graduate. Despite what has happened in this thread, this board is really far more welcoming and far less judgmental of the Appalachian stereotype than the other site. That's why we like it here far more than the other site and want to protect it from the random troll from over there. It happens far more frequently than you think. Welcome to the board. Please stay and enjoy and hopefully, we can put this fiasco behind us! Feel free to PM me for further civil discussion if you would like.

    GC @ Marion

The line has size that's why I feel like GC could have hung with Ridgeview last week. GC just couldn't get out of their own way with all the fumbles. They have no pass game but when they decide to throw it downfield it's almost always an interception. All they need to do is run it up the middle and when the defense cheats run a jet sweep with #2 or #11.

    What would happen?

1990 PV vs 1990 Dobyns-Bennett.....some of my D-B fan coworkers said it was the best team D-B had fielded. I saw them earlier that year, and had my doubts. Told them PV could play with them and they laughed. Mighty D-B promptly went out and lost to Morristown West in the first round of the playoffs. In general, football in NET is pretty weak. There are two teams in NET who are above .500 in the playoffs. Elizabethton and Greeneville. Mighty D-B and Science hill are below .500. That's a lot of 1st losses. Greeneville would be an exception this year. The Ballard kid is an amazing high school QB and he separates them for any other school in the state. They will score whatever they damn well please on South this week. But no matter how good you think a local team might be, there's always better. We're heading to Florida on Sunday for a few weeks. The level of play is ridiculous.

  22. Piggy backing off of the fantasy team convo from weeks past, if you were building a coaching staff made up of current coverage area coaches, who do you pick? You have to choose a head coach, OC, DC and Special Teams coach.

  25. Did they change after each play or each series? Or did the offensive team get the cleats while the other team played in socks? Or was it the defensive team that wore the cleats? Did they change by position? That would suck if you were a wide receiver who wore a size 9 and the opposing wide receiver wore a size 13. And this begs the question, why couldnā€™t Richlands or Salem afford their own cleats? Why did they have to wear the same cleats? And how in the hell did one of these teams make the playoffs playing an entire season without cleats? This needs to be an entire podcast episode, like a 30for30 or something

Doesnā€™t Chandler Davis coach football at VHS? He is the coach of one of the premier travel baseball programs in the South (Dirtbags). Maybe he can recruit a few of those boys to the gridiron?!?

Bearcat Dad...Iā€™ve been a Bearcat a few years longer than you. Iā€™ve just come to accept that VHS is not and will not be a football school. Sure, they will have good teams every now and then. Sure they well have some absolute studs on occasion. Milton Franklin and Darrayl Wilson come to mind. But it is just a fact that VHS is a baseball school. Iā€™ve been hoping to see an evolution to a total sports school for almost 40 years. It ainā€™t happening my friend. Enjoy the good teams when they happen but donā€™t expect it yearly.

Iā€™m very well aware of that fact. Iā€™m only referring to the programs as they refer to themselves, Central Warriors and Clintwood Wolfpack. My insinuation was not to reflect on Coach Owens or Mullins, but to the little league organizations themselves. Some that are not as in the loop as we are will gloss over and paint all football represented under one banner though and there is no changing those folks minds. That is why I said there needs to be serious examination of all that represent their community on any level of football or any sport for that matter.

Fight? More like a scuffle. Iā€™ve seen more punches land in the nursing home. But on the serious note, those idiots should not be allowed to coach any longer. Iā€™d be upset as a parent. Iā€™m not a soft person, but those kids deserve better than that. Hopefully those ā€œmenā€ were not the kids fathers. 1) Because it sets a bad example 2) Their dad doesnā€™t know how to throw punches.
