Reed will take over at Gate City(hopefully). Gate City will go undefeated next year on their way to the 2019 championship. What's going to be the most impressive thing about their run to the championship is they won't have a single turnover along the way. 2019 can't get here fast enough.

We have two great band directors. That is for certain.

They work hard and deserve it, glad they at least got their songs in.

But if you do that, then last year both Marion (5) and Grayson (6) don’t get in and they were 8-2 and 7-3 if I recall correctly. And Grayson knocked off 9-1 Ridgeview and Richlands came within 90 seconds of sending 1 seed Union home after round 1. Sure. There are some duds, but you also get crazy moments where an 8 beats a 1 (happened in 3 different classifications last year). I like it at 8 for regions with 12+ teams.

Not to mention their only losses were to the leaders of 2A West and 3A West

Yes their middle school program is excellent, we have benefited from it also as we have received some player from lee middle. I hope it translates to some deep playoff runs for both county teams.

Can't wait for the Reed Vs Houseright show down over becoming the next head coach at Gate City. Abingdon's coach is an interim hire so they may be looking for a new coach. Wise Central needs to make a change ASAP. I would add Holston to the list but they seem content with losing seasons.

Is it me, or has this become a yearly tradition? GC has historically never played well at Lee. I say Lee in the neighborhood of 41-25.

Six teams as Rappahannock County is ineligible for postseason. Last year there were two 0-10 teams in the playoffs out of this region and it is trending that those two teams will be 0-10 again this year as well.

I tend to agree, but that Grundy game will be tough. Fiser is the best RB in SWVA.

should be top 4 on each region, you want to make it then step up your game. less than .500 wouldn't make it on most occasions. participation trophies and extra $ for vhsl, for what?
