  1. Back of the Dragon is the given name of route 16 between Tazewell and Marion. It is a very windy road that goes over at least three mountains. It is marketed as a tourist attraction and many motorcyclist come to ride the road.

I don't have DVR but I think my grandpa still has a VCR so I may try to record it. I'll be at game but would like to rewatch it later.

  4. I have tried so very hard not to say this, but here goes. (Censored version) The RV staff has serious issues with play calling. I have deleted about 99% of this post, but could preach on this for days.

  8. Probably the Cats, but I wouldn't count Marion out, especially with it being played in Marion. The teams are very comparable in a lot of ways with both teams entering at 4-4, and all their losses being in games that were competitive in the third quarter. The Bearcats have an extremely clear talent advantage, but Marion's very well coached and appear to be maturing as a team. I predict a low scoring affair that will be won either by VA High breaking a couple of big plays, or Marion grinding out the clock in the fourth. Considering where both these teams appeared to be headed early in the season, it's amazing that we're even looking at the possibility of this being a good game.

I guess it time to get the basketballs out in Ben Hur and try the new gym floor out. If this were the JayVees the coach would cancel the last two games.

I think if we stay healthy and limit turnovers we have a good chance to win out.

I don’t know if you know the massive undertaking that broadcasting a game comes with. It’s days of prep. It’s pulling every single person that you have to run a camera either there, or shooting the other games in place of the ones that regularly shoot football. It’s a mobile command center (18 wheeler) that is 5 figures to rent. It’s getting there at 7am to set up and leaving the game at 1am after you’ve torn down. It’s overtime and people being taken away from their families more than usual. It’s also viewer fatigue. A game broadcast makes viewers that’s don’t go to games miss the shows they may normally watch on a Friday night doing that two weeks in a row causes a stir. Trust me, people already weren’t happy we aired the GHS/Betsy game on Fox because they missed a show they liked It’s sooooo much more than “And the Ridgeview Union game wasn’t big enough.” Yes, Ridgeview @ Abingdon was clearly big enough. But it just so happened to be the week after the Greenville/Betsy game. If union Abingdon was this week and RV/Abingdon was this coming week, then it would be that game.

  18. Coaches were NOT prepared for Abingdon. In fact defense hasnt been same since Union game. Trying to get Adkins the ball last 2 games when teams were keying on him. Last week when they FINALLY got Sexton ball he had well ober 100 yds on 11 carries and didnt touch ball until 2nd half.

    Richlands vs Graham

Congrats to Graham on the big win ! Better team right now with more speed and your coaches did a great job of having them prepared. Games like this happens once in a while and Richlands needs to let this one go (easier said than done ) and get ready for the next one up ! We've had many games like this go in our favor and we've had some ( not many ) go against us and you just have to tip your hat to the better team and go back to work ! Good luck to Graham in the future ( unless we meet in the playoffs ) and wish you guys the best ! The Blues still have one of the best coaches in AA and I'm sure they will learn from this. They should still make the playoffs and that's why it's important for them to let this one go and get back to work. Like I said before, sometimes you just have games like this against a team that is better. The Blues just need to keep working hard and moving forward.

  20. Not to take a dump on Tazewell's defensive effort in the 4th quarter, but more than anything, the shift in momentum had to with the extra-curriculars in the stands. I don't know how much of it was caught from the Tazewell side of the stadium, but the game was stopped in the middle of the fourth quarter so that the head linesman could identify a spectator in the away stands who said something that was uncalled for in a smart-assed but innocuous fashion that the officials took very seriously. Seriously enough that it required Marion's administration and Tazewell town police came to supervise the away bleachers for the rest of the night. The entire spectacle not only deflated the fans and the sideline, it's like it hung a pall over that side of the stadium, and it was quite frankly awkward just to be there for the entire rest of the game. Tazewell certainly stepped up, but you could see that from the very next play, Marion, who had no trouble moving the ball all night, suddenly started going backwards.
