I don't like rotating regions. The prospect of A vs D is beyond ridiculous UNLESS the semis were at Salem or another neutral location equidistant for the 2 teams. I wouldn't mind seeing a cross bracket between C/D and A/B. Like #1 seed in D hosts number #2 in C and vice versa. Then, the 2 remaining play in the semis. This could prevent a regular season rematch for the Region championship. Of course, it would also prevent the possibility for a Region championship trophy. I definitely like the power point rating to determine higher seed when discussing cross region play. Not sure how I feel about just 4 teams. Been too many 5 over 4 and 9 over 8 (old system) games to justify getting rid of all 4 lower seeds. Maybe top 6 with 1 and 2 getting a bye. This year's Richlands team is a perfect example. Pretty sure that Ridgeview would have made it to the final had they played Grayson Co instead. Mandatory turf should only come into the conversation if the home team's field is declared unsafe OR they mandate neutral sites for semis. With all the possibilities that we could come up with, I would be happy if they just left things alone. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Gabe Brown of Ridgeview is one of the best shooters I have seen in a few years. Not sure if he is a top 10 caliber in the area, but if you leave him open from deep he can burn you.

Devon Johnson was snubbed from winning both. He was a better LB in high school than he was a RB, yet he won OPoY and not DPoY. Should have won both, imo.

Graham leading 56-52 end of 3rd. Win or lose this one, notice served to 2A region D. G men are for real.

We will take the Bluefield grad over anybody also happy to have former Bluefield great Hugh Smalls on the staff.

Names that come to mind but I'm not sure are Div 3 back then...Vic Hall- Gretna 2004 and Anthony Poindexter-Jefferson Forrest 1993. Some near misses but I'm certain were not POY on both sides were Radfords Touchdown Tommy Edwards in 1991, Bryan Randall-VT of Bruton High in 2000 and Percy Ellsworth of Southampton in both 1990 and 1991. Poindexter, Ellsworth, and Randall were all on at least 1 All-American team and all played AA Div 3, equal to 3A now. Southampton may have been Div 4, AA, during Ellsworths senior year.

An interesting side note is that the head coach from Graham graduated from Bluefield and the head coach at Bluefield graduated from Graham.

Unfortunate situation for this kid. Torn ACL, second year in a row for the Bears starting center! I want to wish Wes the best of luck in whatever he chooses to do and for a quick and speedy recovery!! I hate to see any kid, from any team injured!
