I’ve been amazed at the outpouring of Hokie condolences over George Welsh’s passing. George did something at Virginia that hadn’t been done in 30 years: turn Virginia into not only a winner, but a unique program. May he Rest In Peace.

I’m not underselling him. A majority of Premiere League followers would agree paying $70 million for a player who didn’t even start in the Bundesliga is way too much. Selling jerseys to Americans is great but that doesn’t make him a success in Europe. There is a stigma that Americans are overrated so I hope Pulisic does well but there will be a lot of pressure on him due to the significant wages Chelsea has committed to him as well as a target on his back from opposing teams.

That must be the new fad in high school basketball and it pains me to watch. Union falls into that far to often to be successful. They struggled shooting in the first half against Abingdon and it almost cost them the game. I’m not a fan of the 4 man weave, chuck up a 3 offense and hope it goes in. Finally in the 2nd half they had success in the paint and it opened up a few 3’s. I’m a firm believer in working inside out, it just seems like a lost art.

RIP coach Welsh...no matter if you are a Hokie or Hoo you never want to see this...he was a good coach and seemed like a good guy as well. Lived a long life...85 years is a long time. Prayers to his family and friends from this Hokie

Outstanding coach who earned widespread respect, including that of this Hokie fan. May he rest in peace.

My wife and I met him once at a restaurant in Charlottesville. He was a very classy gentleman! Rest in peace, sir!
