  1. D-B dominated Central from start to finish and won 53-45. Led by as many as 16. McAmis ended up being the leading scorer with Looney but was held to only two in the first half, both from the free throw line and was 0-12 from the field.
  2. What about Rax? Harlan, Kentucky still has one of those. May have to stop in if I get up to Harlan County to watch a game in their barn this season.
  3. The man being referenced above is Edwards at Castlewood, formerly worked under Tiller at Ridgeview, I'm pretty certain.
  4. I'll see Central both Saturday and Monday (against Ridgeview and Dobyns-Bennett). Ridgeview has had more success against Central than anyone, but that was with Frazier coaching. Will be interesting to see if Robinette can have that same kind of success.
  5. Maybe the TSSAA refs won't be so intimidated on Monday when Central comes to the TAC... I can only hope anyway. Lol
  6. I missed the first half since I didn't get off work till 5 but yeah, what I saw it wasn't pretty at all.
  7. Some games actually got in yesterday! Notably, I was at Abingdon and Ridgeview where the Ridgeview girls suffered their first Mountain 7 loss and the boys lost as well: Girls: Abingdon 46, Ridgeview 43 Wise Central 68, John Battle 40 Richlands 51, Tazewell 43 Rural Retreat 53, Holston 22 Patrick Henry 43, Northwood 16 Virginia High 41, Lebanon 36 Boys: Wise Central 51, John Battle 49 Rural Retreat 54, Holston 53 Abingdon 59, Ridgeview 51 Patrick Henry 77, Northwood 36 Tazewell 76, Richlands 56 Chilhowie 64, Johnson County (TN) 54 George Wythe 76, Honaker 48 Virginia High 60, Lebanon 53 Tri-Cities Christian (TN) 70, Hidden Valley 52
  8. It was a promising season until.... Honaker put over 50 on you in the first half in the first game of the season. Then it went to hell in a hand basket. Lol
  9. The Flores girl from upper east Tennessee started in the David Crockett system, transferred to Daniel Boone before her freshman season, transferred to Knoxville Catholic before the start of this her sophomore season, and now just this week has transferred back to Boone and is eligible to play for Boone beginning tomorrow.
  10. Abingdon/Ridgeview and Battle/Central both have been called off. Abingdon and Ridgeview are now next Thursday. Even Dobyns-Bennett and Science Hill postponed tonight and Tennessee schools rarely postpone games. Not sure if Gate City/Union is still on or not.
  11. Probably correct, but Ridgeview obliterated Battle. I think Abingdon struggled with Battle.
  12. Article doesn't mention anything specifically, though I didn't see Kirtner's name in the box score, so I assume he was out at the very least. There's no way he's being held scoreless if he's playing.
  13. Just wanted to add the text from the article for clarity. Not debating you @sixcat. You definitely know more about that district than I do. 🙂
  14. This result surprises me after the Maroons run in the Arby's. Granted Auburn is usually pretty good as well, but the Roanoke Times article on the game said Auburn had already lost in district play? Who did they lose to?
  15. Just noticed that George Wythe is nowhere in @Stelley rankings... Granted they lost to Auburn last night, but any top 10 without G-Dub in it is invalid.
  16. Plus you can't navigate anything there without the hideously annoying ads....
  17. Ok, then that has all changed just recently then. I was told as late as last week that Graham and JM were playing in that deal.
  18. You won't have to wait till March for Graham and John Marshall to play. They play at Virginia High later this month in the Big Shots showcase.
  19. Everyone seems to forget that Ridgeview beat Battle already on the road.
  20. That was a good tournament. I remember Haysi playing in that a few times back in the day. Some good games back then.
  21. Abingdon was excluded from the district tournament a few years ago if I recall and they got livid with it. Or maybe that was baseball/softball. It was one of the three sports I remember.
  22. I think typically SWD goes by regular season champ is #1, then tournament champion/tournament runner up if regular season champ also wins tournament is #2, third place game winner is 3 and third place game loser is 4. Mountain 7 does regular season champ is #1, the other three is based on some kind of compilation between regular season finish and tournament finish since 3A Abingdon is also in the district.
  23. I don't think you'd see blowouts if the PVNB would invite teams like West Ridge, Unicoi County, Letcher Central, Pike Central and maybe another SWD team. Instead of having four M7, three Cumberland, and three Hogo. Yes Arby's typically has blowouts in the first round when it's a local vs. a non local, but after that it's pretty competitive. Just this year alone, Arby's had: one of the best games in the history of the tournament with Mentor and George Wythe. a comeback for the ages with Imhotep (down 27 with 4 minutes left in the third to win over Maryville) tournament records set with 3's in one game by a team and 3's by a team for the tournament. Not to mention all the D1 and future power 5 players you're going to see on a yearly basis. Unfortunately there were only a few folks who saw that 27 point comeback by Imhotep as that was the late game that night and even myself left at that point, because even I feel that a 27 point lead is pretty safe at the high school level.
  24. Yeah, I'm not going to argue with the folks on here anymore about it. I am in the thought process that you are that there needs to be more variety. It has the potential to be a great tournament, but I don't want to spend $10-$15, whatever the session cost is to watch district games in a holiday tournament. It's apparent the majority of the folks on here like this tournament the way it is though, so be it. I didn't even like the fact that D-B played Maryville last week in the Arby's. Even though it's not a district or even region matchup, it is a decent possibility it could be a substate matchup later down the road.
  25. And Battle is in his top 10 who lost to Ridgeview who's not.
