Surprised I haven't seen any Gate City fans weighing in on this yet. According to many pundits, they got the worst possible draw in the opening round against North Mecklenburg. If somehow they can get through that one, then a possible second round game with 6A Landstown awaits. Eastside gets a play-in game with Tabernacle for a chance to play Columbus, Mississippi in the opening round.

Duffy was at Haysi his first two years and I was one of the few friends he had there. I can remember seeing him on video pulling off a massive tomahawk one year in a game against Powell Valley. Crazy stuff. The game he had in the Region D tournament at Clinchco with Ervinton against Boo Sensabaugh and JI Burton was insane. One of the best high school basketball games I have ever seen.

Probably won't be announced till they're all eliminated.

This is where I am going Friday night. Hoping to see a good one at least and a PH win. I never would have imagined that Norton could've turned a 27 point loss into a 5 point win in just over a few weeks time, but as much as I hate Jimbo, he can coach. I think PH wins, but it's going to be a squeaker I think.

Glad the fumble recovery TD was explained. That's the one I was having the most difficulty understanding because I thought false start was what they called. Like the article said, the confusion and indecisiveness was outrageous.

Care to elaborate? I heard Saturday morning that he was already banned from doing Haysi basketball games several years ago. So, my opinion is he shouldn't have been allowed back in Dickenson County period.

After the meltdown loss to Ferrum to open the season, it only snowballed downhill from there. They have the talent, but much like UVA-Wise during the Lusk era, not the coaching. If I were the AD, E&H's coach would've been gone after the Ferrum game. Totally inexcusable how they lost that game. Strange thing is, one of their three victories was over Washington & Lee who wound up winning the ODAC and getting the automatic bid into the D3 playoffs. They face Mount Union in round 1. Not what I would call a reward for W&L.

Old Southern Conference rivals across the mountain from one another I am guessing. But they haven't been in the SoCon together for years. I guess bad blood never dies. I don't think they even play each other in anything now do they?

I've been working in this town for 18 years now and I still have never went to Harbor House. Pretty sad. I hear nothing but good things about it though. :)

You're just an App State hater. Lol I don't remember the years in which they occurred, but when I was in school there, UVa-Wise then known as Clinch Valley College defeated Jacksonville and took Austin Peay to OT in football. (both I-AA schools) CVC was still NAIA then.

You do have that like 1 mile stretch just past Lebanon now where the speed limit is 60 instead of 55. When they first did that, I was like, Why even bother? Well, now I know why. Because I have got 2 speeding tickets in the past 6 months pretty close to that very area.

I still have that utter disdain for Covington and that BS they pulled at the end of the playoff game with Haysi several years ago though. It used to be Council during the peak of the Haysi-Council basketball rivalry. What's surprising to me is, I may be the only Ridgeview fan who doesn't hate Union. On Friday, when they announced over the PA "End of the 3rd quarter, Richlands 10, Union 6.", the place exploded. I don't know if it was they were pulling for Richlands, or they were just hating on Union, but I tend to think more the latter. I did see a Facebook post someone shared with me though of a Union fan gloating that they wouldn't get that playoff rematch with Ridgeview, so I guess if everyone else saw that, then I can see why they don't feel too warm on Union also. edit: So, I've thought about it a little more... maybe it's because the majority of the fan base are Clintwood folks and it's that old LPD rivalry blood with PV/Appy is why they don't like Union... I don't know. Anyway, I am pulling for Union the rest of the way.

I'm just going to try to forget about it. I pretty much had until I logged on that other board this morning and saw a post that riled me up again. Our season was going to end one way or another no later than this Friday night anyway, so why not just go ahead and let Grayson County be the sacrificial lambs to the G-Men. I hope I never see that crew again though. And I hope I never see Grayson County again. They've surpassed Covington on my most hated team list.

A lot of Eastside fans I talk to are expecting this to be a Bedlam (Oklahoma-Oklahoma State) type game. Could be fun to watch.

I read the article on the Times website today about that game, I thought it was interesting that even the Liberty coach put the VHSL on blast for allowing teams like his very own 2-8 squad in the playoffs. I figured a coach was always happy to get one more game but I guess in some instances, maybe not.
