  2. I can't speak for the Southwest District, but in the M7, teams get points for their order of finish in the regular season district standings, and then points for their placing in the district tournament. The regular season does carry more weight. The only team guaranteed a spot in the region tournament is the highest finishing 2A team in the regular season standings, and that team will get the M7's #1 seed to the region regardless of what happens in the tournament. The 6th seed in the regular season could possibly outpoint the 4th or 5th place team if that #6 upsets the #3 in the tournament. Also, who ever loses the #4 vs. #5 seed tournament game will be done for the tournament, but will advance to the region unless #6 upsets #3. The SW district will have their own formula for how they will seed their four, and it will be complicated by the fact that they have to figure Grayson County in the mix.
  3. There's been some great coaching this year, but it's hard to argue against Travis Turner's team being 12-0 and him not being coach of the year.

    0-10

Each region has the autonomy to allow as many teams as they choose to make the playoffs.

    0-10

I saw where two 0-10 teams made the Region 1B football playoffs................. Hmmm.
  6. Long haul from Grayson Co. to Rose Ridge
  7. It's easy to be so outspoken when you have nothing to lose. Just like everything else, there's at least two sides to every story.
  8. I always thought Gate City's success was due in part to their "in house" youth program. I'm not a fan of football travel teams for kids under the age of 13.
  9. So you are saying GC is getting a couple of brothers from? Honaker? I must have missed something in this thread or forum.
  10. Maybe you should let him announce that.
  11. If Graham's girls were a #7 seed, why did they play #3 seed Grayson County tonight? #2 usually plays #7.
  12. It is laid out in the handbook that was posted on here. For tiebreaker #1, the teams split, so you go to tiebreaker #2. Central wins at tiebreaker #2 because Battle lost to Lebanon and Central didn't (neither of them beat GC or Union, so you compare how they did to the next highest seed, which is #5 Lebanon). The rest of the tiebreakers do not come into play.
  13. Next year conferences will no longer exist, only districts and we will move back to an almost similar set up to what we used to have. There will be 4 regions instead of 2 with each region consisting of 2 districts. Clinch Mountain district will have Abingdon, Central, Union, Ridgeview, Battle, Lee, Gate City. Everybody will play twice in the CM District. Abingdon will play in the district tournament, but must compete in 3A for their region tournament. Southwest District will include Tazewell, Richlands, Virginia High, Lebanon, Graham, and Marion if I'm not mistaken. The only odd ball thing is that Grayson County will not be in either of these two districts, but will compete in the region with Clinch Mountain and Southwest District teams. Unless something changes, for basketball, 4 teams will advance to make an 8 team region tournament. Seeding Abingdon in a 3A region tournament will be difficult, as will be seeding Grayson County in this region's tournament.
  14. Central won the tiebreaker at step #2. Neither beat seeds 1 and 2, so going down the line to compare how each did against the next highest seed, #5 Lebanon, Battle lost to Lebanon once, and Central did not lose to Lebanon.
  15. I'm pretty sure it is Gretna, not Chatham as the #1 girls team out of Conference 37
  16. Just wondering, why didn't Richlands and Union play in the regular season this year?
  17. Why don't you delete all the names of the tournaments that were entered? That should free up a lot of space for more characters.
  18. Unfortunately VHSL rules do not allow teams to pick up a replacement game if they lose one (play one less than planned) in a sanctioned tournament. So if Richlands gets one less game than planned in this tournament, that's a bad lick for them.
  19. 10:30 am JI Burton vs. Floyd Co. 12:15 pm Wise Central vs. Carroll County 2:00 pm Ridgeview vs. Virginia High 3:45 pm Twin Valley vs. Marion
  20. VHSL adopting a pitch count for this season. Just wondering how teams and umpires are going to police this. Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
  21. Were the brackets done by blind draw?
