The Luck play was the big 1st basemen holding runner on 1st with 1 out and the bases loaded someone on our team hit a missle that should have been a 3 run double and the big kid extended as far as he could and caught it for a double play. He had no reason to be holding a runner on in that situation. I remember sitting in the stands and looking at my son and daughter telling them it wasn't our day after that happened. I consider that luck but y'all had a good team those games could've went either way back then. Great games a lot of great players playing in them.

I think this will be our last year of having a shot for awhile. We had 3 upcoming 9th graders who will be great players. Looks like 2 Transferred and I would be shocked if the other kid stays past this year. We've been bit more than any school in Southwest Va. would've had 2 more State baseball titles if kids would just stay put. I blame Lebron going to Miami for kids always looking to play with their friends and not care about loyalty.

I'm not saying we would beat GC it would be a fun atmosphere with kids giving it their all. It would have a playoff feel to it just for a benefit game and they owe us a return trip.

Dick I've not missed maybe 5 games honaker has played since around 2010 I could tell you close to what any good players at the school have averaged that have played since then. Dunham told me at the end of last year he had 4 returning starters that would all break 1000 pts next year and it was going to the best chance to win state since Robinettes Jr year. A lot has changed since then.

We agree on something. 09 was the best team in honaker baseball history. Loaded lineup 1-9 had kids on the bench that would've started and hit in the top half of lineup most years. Glory days it will never be back there again. Credit for 2011 getting hot and winning it but they did lay a couple eggs during the season. 2009 was juggernaut start to finish had some bad luck in state semi and Chatham was so loaded that year may not have won anyway but what a great team that was.

Y'all Gate City boys go talk your coach into coming over to Honaker to play a benefit game. It will be a packed house and throw in transfers coming back to play I can guarantee y'all our kids will play their ass off and play it like its a state championship game. We came over there and lost by 3-4 a couple years ago everyone thought we would get smoked. I would like to see return match over here. I know y'all have some D1 kids but our kids have the heart of D1 kids. Play hard and never quit.

The older Boyd kid won't help with anything in the post but y'all are getting one of the if not the best pure spot up shooter in southwest va. I know the competition isn't great in 1A but he had 15-20 vs George Wythe and Lancaster last year and both were good teams. I disagree with Dick You don't hit 160-170 3 pointers and score 700-800 points as Fr and soph and not be good enough to go from 1A-2A. Other than Gate City we've been as good if not better than anyone else in the area for the last 3 years. I think we will be really good again this year and could beat anyone again outside of GC or Graham. The last 3 years we've beat George Wythe 2x, Graham, Eastside 2x, won tournaments at Virginia High and Wise lost last possession games to Richlands and Union. Most impressive went to state all 3 years. I wish we played in a better conference and saw better comp all year instead of just in tournaments.

This past year no. Next year top 5 hitters and pitchers return 4 of them seniors who have started since freshmen year. Don't forget 2011 state champs got beat 11-0 in playoffs the year before and lost to Richlands by 10 runs the year they did win it. Just got hot at the right time. It wasn't an unbeatable juggernaut until the playoffs started.

I helped coach football when Tra was in 7th he was by far the best QB in the league. I know he's good at basketball but I think football is his sport. Our football has went downhill last couple of years I had high hopes him and the rest of that group would get us back playing for championships. We have good line, backs and receivers with him at Qb could have been special.

Most people over this way thought their dad was getting the head coaching job. School board wanted it to go to a teacher at the school so it turned into typical politics the teacher got it. So they're moving to Gate City. One of the boys will be a JR the other will be in the 9th. The JR was all conference as freshmen and sophomore but that's playing in the CRC it will be big step up in 2a and yalls conference. He was better as a freshmen broke the career 3pt record at Honaker in his Fr year almost made 100 3s. Tanner Robinette probably deserves some of that credit for getting doubled and triple teamed. Great shooter I'm sure he will fit in over there. The Fr would have played varsity at honaker this year and would have been a star over here playing 1A. It will be interesting to see how they do playing at GC. But we wish them the best no hard feelings. When they 1st made the announcement I thought the whole team would transfer but it sounds like everything has settled down some.

I can confirm a couple of brothers are transferring from Honaker to GC.

I thought this season went pretty good. Went extra innings with the eventual state champion in the playoffs. Have pretty much the whole team back next year and I thought the coaching staff did a tremendous job. Excited about this coming year I think it will be like the 2011 team that won state.

I would ask how Honaker is doing but I know we are in for a long season. Hopefully the rebuild goes quick.

Anyone have any information of the Radford team camp that finished up today?
