I dont think gc will be playing for state title. They are good but not that good. They have to find somebody else besides dean. He can’t have 40 every game. Other coaches eventually will hold him to mid 20s.

I don’t feel it is about him. I still feel that it was an awful hire by the powers that were in place at gate city. However, he applied and he is a big boy and he knew the pros and cons to the job. You can’t have his record at gc and be able to outrun it. No matter what he does from here on out, he still will be remembered for his time at gc. Hate it for him but it is what it is. Gc is still the champ until someone beats them. Lee, union, wise, ridgeview, blah blah blah. Wait till they play the team that has always been there. To be the man you got to beat the man. Not saying it won’t happen but until it does, you “other” schools are wishful thinking.

I have noticed that gc basketball is off to a strong start and wise has not been too impressive. I am going out on a limb and still say Mcanus does not beat gc this year....making him 0 and whatever it is for his coaching career. Thought or opinions?

Not down a bit on the kid. Think he is the best swva high school football player. On the best team in swva. He proved it last night. Time will tell. Go watch Emory or wise and you see talent and size on the field. D1 is a whole new ball game. He is not the athlete or player that mitchel was. Cam. Allen was special. Thomas and Julius were unreal. Houseright from gc. Another level. This kid is good. Not great. All those names I mentioned won state championships, except James. If union wins state. That helps his recruitment. One thing for sure. Travis turner is an excellent coach. Be glad you have him and don’t heckle him as much as some of you guys do.
