  1. IF If's and But's were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas. LB dominated the line of scrimmage from start to finish. Played without two of their best players most of the night, and won the game. When it mattered most, LB made plays and Bluefield could not.
  2. Not the way it is written in the official VHSL state tournament pre-report. If you go to https://www.vhsl.org/football/ and check the Football-Playoff-Format.pdf under resources, the only thing listed on the report is as follows: Sites - Semi-Finals - The higher rated team (based on power rating) will host. Nothing in there about a tie breaker procedure. Nothing in there about higher seed hosts. Nothing in there about any of that. So, would it be fair to assume that if there is a tie in the Power Ratingit would revert back to the only tie breaking procedure listed anywhere to break the tie in Power Rating? Then, article b of tie breaking procedure for regional contests is record against common opponents. Lord Botetourt 2-1 (Wins against Northside/Fleming and a loss to Northside); Heritage 1-1 (win vs. Fleming; loss vs. Northside). No where does it say "The higher regional seed hosts unless they are both the same seed." To me, this is another example of the VHSL dropping the ball and not having a tie breaker in place and just going with whatever they want to do.
  3. When was the last time Bluefield didn't score an offensive touchdown?
  4. Who is this best coaching asset that Mance got rid of? This is the 2nd or 3rd time I've seen this posted here. Sorry, I'm not in the loop and know. I'm pretty sure Mance can handle his staff the way he wants to and I'm pretty sure Mance knows what's best for his staff. So, do tell...
  5. What, not enough big time recruits this year? Couldn't get any local talent to rent a trailer down in Cedar Bluff for the season?
  6. What a game. I wish I would have been there to see it in person. Far different outcome than the last time these two teams met. I can't say I'm surprised. Sometimes teams come in way over-confident when looking at the outcome of the last meeting and think about how many points they can hang on them again. Hope everyone was still smiling after the game!' Maybe Richlands can use the same formula in a couple of weeks. I wonder if Wells would try and hang as many points as he could on his mentor?
  7. This will probably look like a professional basketball score when all is said and done. I see it being 94-92 game. Maybe even going into overtime!
  8. One things for sure, PaPa Smurf must still be working his recruiting magic!
  9. The worst part of all this transfer business that has been going on in Tazewell county for several years now is the parenting...Yes, I agree the coaching in both places has been in shambles for quite some time. I agree with barondawg77 that Coach Allen has invested a lot into the program to get it back on track, and has done an admirable job. Richlands has had consistency in their coaching, and that has made a difference on the field. The travesty that exists is when the parents of these kids that transfer allow it to happen, and in some cases, even promote it happening! What are they teaching their children and their siblings? That when you don't get things you want, or things don't go your way, pack up and leave your family, teammates, friends behind and go try something else? Especially when it involves kids going into their senior years. Take the 3 years you have just spent and throw it all away? Many parents claim that the reason they move down the road is for the opportunities it provides their children to go to college. How many of those kids that have transferred down the road have went on to play scholarship football at the next level? How many of those guys are in the pros now? 10, 20, 30 years from now will it matter how many games you won? Will it matter if you started on your varsity football team? Will it matter that you turned your back on your childhood friends, coaches, and sometimes your family? Which class reunion will you attend? The one where you only spent one year and barely know anyone, or the one where you grew up playing in the backyard with all you friends pretending you would be a Bulldog or a G-man one day? You know, those same "friends" you turned you back on when things didn't go exactly like they were planned to do? The one your siblings, your cousins, your mom and dad, even your grandmother and grandfather went to? Sorry for the rant...Just something that needed to be said...
  10. Correction, one person has said that! He did!
  11. Retiring #11 is the right thing to do, and a fitting honor to a great athlete, but an even better person. TJ was a special kid, and like barondawg said, I am very honored to have known, coached, and loved him as well. This absolutely needs to be done to honor the memory and spirit of one of the finest young men to every put on the green and white.
  12. Why's that? Good group of recruits coming? LOL
  13. If you call giving up 13 touchdowns and scoring 3 on their 2nd string "tougher", then sure you DID!
  14. They must run some type of 4/5 wide vertical passing attack!
