  7. No problem j/k I've talked to alot of the players and the have told me thierselves that they don't expect to be good. I wasn't trying to be a a$$, had to go christmas shoping thats all I had time to put. But if you want to know why, BLand lost some key players from last year, even though they have some height inside they won't have the shooters outside to keep them from being 1 dimensional. To be "for real" this year you have to be able to go to the playoffs. With Grayson County and Narrows in the MED, theres a slim chance that any other team will make it. And as for Radford and George Wythe they both have really good teams, and Bland is in a rebuilding year. It would be a huge upset if Bland Co. can win one of those games. But if you know something I don't please feel free to share it with me.
  8. Iaeger in 2008 I believe. It will be Bradshaw High School right? We played Big Creek in basketball yesterday and i talked to some of the players and they're all really sad about losing their team. All the ones I talked to aren't very happy about combining with iaeger either.
  9. OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Kevin Pittsnogle scored 25 points and Johannes Herber added a career-high 21 to lead a strong shooting performance by West Virginia in a 92-68 victory over No. 7 Oklahoma on Thursday night. Pittsnogle was 8-for-11 from the field, Herber was 9-for-13 and the Mountaineers (7-3) shot 66.7 percent to overcome a career-best 31-point performance from Taj Gray, who tried to single-handedly lead the Sooners (6-2) back from a 13-point deficit in the second half. Gray scored all of Oklahoma's points in a 13-5 run. He had three baskets off offensive rebounds, including one for a three-point play, and got the Sooners within 61-56. After a 3-pointer by Mike Gansey, he dodged Pittsnogle and slammed the ball with two hands. But the Sooners' comeback hopes fizzled after that. Gray was called for goaltending on a shot by Heber, and Heber added a three-point play on West Virginia's next possession to stretch the lead to 69-58. The Mountaineers then scored 19 of the game's final 22 points for their first win in three games against ranked opponents this season. Gansey added 15 points and Frank Young scored 14 for West Virginia, which is 7-0 when holding opponents under 70 points this season Michael Neal scored all 16 of his points in the first half for Oklahoma. The Sooners couldn't get the ball inside against West Virginia's zone in the first half and instead settled for perimeter shots. About the only way the Sooners could get the ball to Gray was to miss a shot, and they had no trouble doing that. While Gray was 8-for-10 in the second half, his teammates were 5-for-19. On the other end, the Mountaineers hardly missed. West Virginia shot 64 percent in the first half, including 13-for-14 from inside the 3-point arc, and led 41-34. It was the Mountaineers' best shooting performance in a half this season, and the second half was even better. The Mountaineers were 16-for-23 (69.6 percent) after halftime, and had the second-best shooting performance against a Kelvin Sampson-coached Oklahoma team.

  13. http://bdtonline.com/cnhi/bdtonline/localsports/local_story_355000905.html?keyword=topstory POCAHONTAS, Va.  Mark Little has played big this season for the Pocahontas Indians. The unassuming senior scored 36 points in the Indians’ 78-62 win over Iaeger last Wednesday and had 26 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists in a 30-point victory over Northwood  and he’s not hesitant to get the ball to his teammates. For his outstanding effort, Little has been named the first 2005-06 recipient of the Pocahontas Coal Association-Bluefield Daily Telegraph Player of the Week award for boys’ basketball. Little said he felt as though he should share the award with his teammates. “Last year, we weren’t really a team,†Little said. “Now, this year, we’ve all pulled together. We’re play as a team. We’ve got two wins (out of three games). ... They get me the ball. I try to get them the ball, and let everybody score. ... “This year, everybody gets to touch the ball. Everybody gets to play now.†Coach Scott Louthan said, “I’ve been preaching to them for two years to share the ball, and I guess this year they decided that they wanted to listen. They’ve looked better in three games this year than we looked at any point last year.†The coach said Pocahontas currently has four players averaging in double figures. The results show in the 2-1 record. Louthan said, “It feels a lot better than 0-3 at this point last year.†Louthan said of Little, “He’s one of the few players we’ve got who can shoot the 3, and he can also drive and score inside. He’s pretty much got an all-around game, which helps everybody on the team.†Little had to apply himself in the classroom and the basketball arena just to suit up for his team this year. Bad grades had held him back. “(Coach) Louthan kept pushing me to make better grades,†he said, adding, “This is actually my first full season playing.†Louthan said, “He’s a great athlete. ... By him getting his grades up, he’s getting that chance to play. I’ve seen that he can do it, because we played in the summer some. He’s finally applied himself.†In addition to playing in an off-season league, Little and some of his teammates got together for pickup games in the Lucas Gym  a promising new development, Louthan said. “We just started it last year. It’s something they told me they’d never done before. Just get them all experience playing,†the coach said. Little attributed his shooting touch to “a lot of practice.†He has been working on driving to the basket, he said. He said his admitted problem with foul shooting “is getting better.†Little took up basketball as a third-grader at Abbs Valley Elementary School and soon knew “it’s my sport. ... People had been trying to get me to play football, but I’d never played football until now (the 2005 season).†He said, “Football made me faster, and a little bit stronger.†• • • Honorable mention was earned by a trio of prep players.
