  1. I am sure Marcell is very fast. But, very, very few High School players run a TRUE 4.5. Numbers like 4.3, 4.4, 4.5 are thrown around all the time, it's just not the case! Track and field organizations generally use a +.15 correction factor, when comparing old hand timed races to electronically times modern races. Plus, they where hand timed with multiple watches with very experienced timers. Lows and highs thrown out, the rest must generally agree Not a single High School coach saying....... GO. Hand times can easily be .2 to .3 off. The shorter the race the more pronounce this is. Only times that are electronically timed are accurate. If someone wants to time their own team, using the same timer, under the same conditions... then he could get a really good idea of how fast his team is relative to each other. But, the time itself is absolutely meaningless for comparison purposes. Even when comparing to another team that is also hand timing. A guy that runs a TRUE 4.6 is very, very fast and is the fastest guy; by far, in 95% plus of high school games. A true 4.5 would be about 6th on the following list........ Last NFL combine RB top 40 times. (Fastest college running backs in Draft class) 1. Justice Hill, @CowboyFB, 4.40 2. Ryquell Armstead, @Temple_FB, 4.45 t3. Jordan Scarlett, @GatorsFB, 4.47 t3. Mike Weber, @OhioStateFB, 4.47 5. Travis Homer, @CanesFootball, 4.48 3:18 PM ยท Mar 1, 2019
  2. I think this is going to go down to the wire. Radford may be a SLIGHT favorite, but i'm not sure. This game will be very close, unless one of them comes out cold.
  3. Radford beat Patrick-Henry Roanoke (5A, 10-0) 59-43. 34-12 halftime
  4. Quinton Morton-Robertson was 1a player of the year his sophomore year. Moved to 2a for junior year, Mac Mcclung got the honor, but was still Roanoke Times player of the year (approx. 70 teams including 3a, 4a, 5a and 6a), He is now a senior and cant make the top 20 of some of the replies to this topic. I could have sworn the board host has said in the past that Radford is included in this forum. Although not on the logo graphics. If this is the case, then the only question is who is 1 and who is 1A between QMR and Ervin.
  5. So. Radford is considered SWVA in this this forum. Right? Just wondering.
  6. Virginia used to only have three classes A , AA , AAA. Now that they have six classes, doesn't mean that 5a and 6a are now bigger; the "pie" is just broken up into 6 pieces not three. So, basically 1A, 2A ( old A), 3A, 4A (old AA), 5A, 6A (old AAA). The sizes of the schools are the same. I don't know where the enrollment breakoff for AAA is in West Virginia ( less urban areas),but AAA in West Virginia is more than likely closer in size to a 5A 6A in Virginia, not a 3A.
  7. Radford has only given up 60 three times. They will slow the tempo down, GC will have fewer possesions. Gate City is very good and will still score alone more than the 43 points a game that radford gives up. I would put the over under around 58, 59. like I said a very good close game. Oh, yeah I will be here. You will have some explaining to do. Can't wait.
  8. I will take Radford defence "guards included" against any other team region 2D or 2C. Except, Graham , they are better than all others on D Gate City will be doing good to score in the high 50's.
  9. Yes, the contention that 6' 6" is not as long as 6'3" does go over my head. Radford struggled without their center ( against a bad team) they were flat, and won by 9 anyway. the second game they won by 17 ( in your world "struggled mightily") with limited center play. I guess they do struggle with length ( without their starting center).A lot of teams would like to call a 17 point win, a "struggle". But he's 95 percent healthy now. Your struggle with length argument is horse****. Correction : Horton is listed from 6'3" to 6'6", Jones 6'6" to 6'7".Point is: he makes a big difference against size or "length".
  10. But they didn't loose to a 24-4, Grayson county... They won by 9. The games last 4 quarters. Yes they could have lost (not should've), but the didn't. You can find games like that on any schedule. Good teams find a way to win. Thea were without Milas Jones (6'6"center), the first game against Carroll County. Won by 9. Could've not should've. The second game against Carroll County won by 17,Jones in a heavy knee brace, limping.
  11. Radford has a " punchers chance" . Wow. I think this will be a good game, 2 very good teams. Radford does play good defense,,they go 10 deep and keep rotating players. But, they are very athletic, they can run with anybody. That's just not Cormanys thing. He emphasizes defense, no defense - you sit. Radford doesnt score as many points as Gate City, but they could. Radford chooses to have efficient possessions and control tempo. With the point gaurd,(Morton-Robertson) they can play as slow or fast as they like. You won't get the ball. Radford will shows how athletic they are, when there is a scramble for a loose ball ( Radford generates a lot of loose balls). They win most of those battles score on a fast break, then slow it back down and run a very dicliplined offense.
  12. Could you find information on Radford? Thanks in advance if you can.
  13. The Radford/George Wythe game should be interesting. Don't think Radford will jump up 42-0 this time .George Wythe will adjust, and be ready for Radford's athletes in space. I still think Radford wins in a much closer game.
  14. Galaxy @ Radford postponed to Saturday at noon
  15. Looking forward to the Radford Galax game Friday. Radford has a very, very impressive offense, they can score in a variety of ways and score quick. First team vs. First team at George Wythe, was 48 to 7 at halftime. pulled the starters out after one series in the second half. Trying to prevent injuries, because there is a Huge drop-off to the second team. Ended up having to put the starters back in to eat clock, because the backups couldn't even slow the Maroons down. Injuries will be a key for Radford this year. Don't know how good the defense is. Fridays game against Galax will tell the tale. Right now I think the defense is solid, but not great. If all goes well for Radford in the injury department, It will take a lot of points to beat the Bobcats this year. Like 40 plus.
