@  Bearcat Bob : (25 June 2016 - 02:46 PM) UVA just hired Tim Taylor as an assistant coach on the Women's Basketball team. This will be his 3rd stint there. Not really a big deal until you factor in that he almost guarantees that Samantha Brunelle will be at UVA in a few years. She is a rising sophomore in HS; on the U18 National Team; #1 ranked in her class; has worked with Taylor since she started dribbling a ball.
@  UVAObserver : (24 June 2016 - 11:55 PM) I just read the most epic court transcript in the history of jurisprudence. It is extremely vulgar, and thereby extremely hilarious. I will not post the link, but a Google search of "Denver Fenton Allen" will lead you there.
@  sixcat : (23 June 2016 - 04:44 PM) I have to agree with UVAO. I have been to games in both places in recent years. Oxford is beautiful, unique and one hell of an experience.
@  UVAObserver : (23 June 2016 - 01:14 PM) It's not awful, but it's sure as Hell not Oxford.
@  GMan : (22 June 2016 - 10:39 PM) Not late, just wanted to remind everyone...
@  Ryan4VT : (22 June 2016 - 09:59 PM) We didn't write the article. We just voted. Don't be sour that Blacksburg is a beautiful city. :)
@  UVAObserver : (22 June 2016 - 07:42 PM) What Hokie shill drafted that article? Blacksburg over Oxford?!
@  Ryan4VT : (22 June 2016 - 06:15 PM) You're only two months late ;)
@  GMan : (22 June 2016 - 06:09 PM) BOOM... http://gardenandgun....e-towns-bracket
@  sixcat : (22 June 2016 - 05:07 PM) I agree, Ryan, the US Team aren't as bad as they appeared last night but, in order to get to where they need to be, we can't coddle them. We don't coddle Manning, Brady or Labron.
@  sixcat : (22 June 2016 - 05:05 PM) I agree with GMan, they were scared. Dempsey all but disappeared, Bradley looked pathetic, and Birnbaum had no business on the field.
@  sixcat : (22 June 2016 - 05:03 PM) A friendly is a far cry from the grand stage of a major tournament. Nowhere near as many eyeballs on a friendly.
@  Ryan4VT : (22 June 2016 - 01:54 PM) We were absolutely scared last night though.
@  Ryan4VT : (22 June 2016 - 01:54 PM) Not true. When Germany was number 1 last year we beat them in a friendly when both sides weren't at full strength, but we didn't look scared.
@  GMan : (22 June 2016 - 01:52 PM) The US played scared like they always do when they play a top team.
@  Ryan4VT : (22 June 2016 - 01:52 PM) Yep. They are the number one team in the world for a reason. And while I think our ranking of 31 is a little low, the gap is still clear.
@  sixcat : (22 June 2016 - 12:12 PM) Difference in technical skill was evident immediately! The US has come a long way in soccer, but have a long way still to go.
@  Ryan4VT : (22 June 2016 - 12:37 AM) I'm so pumped for this Copa semi. We have the worlds eyes with a chance to pull probably the biggest upset in American Soccer history.
@  sixcat : (21 June 2016 - 11:08 AM) The USGA, the gift that keeps on punishing!
@  Beamerball : (16 June 2016 - 12:59 AM) G, I seen a dew point reading of 80 over in KY today, that's pretty impressive, we've been around 70 all day here

Interesting matchup in my neck of the woods. Actually, I am planning to be there for this one. The locals early schedule has been much weaker than the Richlands slate. This is a huge determining factor for me. Obviously, the Blue Tornado squad is not as powerful as past teams; however, they are good and solid and certainly will give the Cavaliers their toughest game thus far. Trust me, the folks in Daleville are already fired up for this one. This is the classic Southwest Virginia perennial power versus an upstart working its way to notoriety in the Roanoke Valley. My edge goes to the tradition that is Richlands football. Go Blues!

The Quarterback and Running Back for Lord Botetourt are both very good.  The RB put up some very good numbers last year.  I've heard from a friend out that way that they don't throw the ball hardly at all.  Hopefully Richlands comes to play and can get the ball rolling again.  If we can clean up the passing game and step up our pass defense we have chance of being good.  Look forward to making the trip out to Daleville this Friday.

LB has had some good wins this year against some very respectable teams.  Richlands has had trouble over the past few years against teams from the Roanoke area.  LB by a touchdown.

No disrespect to Richlands, but I have a feeling LB is going to win this pretty handily.  My prediction by at least 17.  31-14.  LB is pretty tough and their RB is a beast.  I would love to see Richlands win this one to keep some notoriety going for extreme SWVA, but I just don't think it will happen.

We are definitely the underdog here. More bad news for us. Colten will not be playing Friday night. Out with a shoulder sprain. LB wins this pretty easy in my opinion. I hope we can make a good showing. If we can't throw the ball we lose big. If we can trow maybe we can keep it respectable!

Exit 150B, take a right off the exit.  Right at the first light onto 220.  Go about a mile and a half.  School is on the left

I hate to hear that he is out. Best of luck to you all, pulling for the Blues.

Oddly enough, I think I know more about Botetourt's team than that of my own alma mater with regard to this matchup.

My take is that the Blues will have to play their very best to have a shot at this one.  This looks like the best team that Botetourt has fielded in recent memory and they've got really great momentum coming into this game.  Their offense is clicking and they've played some fairly decent competition to date.  Richlands will need to control the line of scrimmage and keep the Cavs' offense on the sidelines as much as possible.  Doing that will improve their chances.

On paper this looks like an uphill climb.  But anything can happen.

Richlands will have their hands full this week and for the next two weeks with Virginia High, who is much improved, and with Bluefield.  When was the last time Richlands lost 2 or even 3 regular season games?

I love my blues,  but with Colton out and River still getting his legs under him as a starting varsity QB,  and with some issues at receiver, and the O line still coming together,  I think this might be a long night for the blues.  They are playing a lot of young players,  but they do they have the potential to be a very good team,  but I am afraid they have just too much going against them this week,  with them playing a good team that has a lot of good talent along with good coaching and at their place.

I hope I am way off on this though and the blues give them a good hard fought game !

There's a F5 BlueTornado warning for Southwest Virginia this fall !
