@  BlueRazor : (22 September 2014 - 08:00 PM) I agree Stinespring and Beamer need to go! I like Beamer personally its just time...
@  vtdavis4321 : (22 September 2014 - 05:52 PM) Variables are Stinespring and Beamer. Both still there. The gift that keeps giving is Beamer/Stinespring.
@  old_school_blue : (22 September 2014 - 05:06 PM) Can't point fingers at coaches that aren't there. The VT offense does not have any identity.
@  bhs7695 : (22 September 2014 - 05:04 PM) Different varibles can be pointed to each year, but the biggest one is that shitty offensive line. I read it that the Curt Newsome gift keeps on giving and probably another two years before they show significant improvment. That is, if they don't lose another offensive line coach to end this season.
@  bhs7695 : (22 September 2014 - 05:02 PM) I still believe the lack of an offensive line for several years has been the biggest problem the Hokies face year in and year out. Makes it damn hard to run the ball and if you can't run the ball the losses will mount up.
@  UVAObserver : (22 September 2014 - 04:03 PM) Better than the #2 choice, one Jerry Sandusky. That would've been horrific in retrospect.
@  Bearcat Bob : (22 September 2014 - 04:01 PM) Could have been but was not...sadly. I liked Groh and thought he was the right choice at the time.
@  UVAObserver : (22 September 2014 - 03:35 PM) Groh could've very easily been that guy. That incredible 2002 class (ranked #11) bombed in a way that resembled a horrific train derailment. Losing Musgrave at the end of 2002 hurt. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory against Miami and VT in 2004 hurt. Al being generally a curmudgeon hurt. UVA taking 4 years too long to figure that out hurt.
@  1inStripes : (22 September 2014 - 03:15 PM) http://hardballtalk....asis/?cid=Yahoo
@  Bearcat Bob : (22 September 2014 - 02:00 PM) I agree with Hurricane. Be careful of what you wish for....Under George Welsh, UVA was taken from nothing to respectablility, winning 7-8 games a year. Heck they even reached #1 in the rankings, albeit for a short period. But the fans wanted more...felt he could take them no further. Maybe they were right but Groh and now London certainly have not advanced the program. It has dropped significantly. Maybe C'vill and B'burg just aren't attractive enough to get those programs over the hump no matter the HC? Watch out for ODU!!!!
@  UVAObserver : (22 September 2014 - 11:49 AM) Yep, time for him to go.
@  old_school_blue : (22 September 2014 - 11:33 AM) They will never be in that conversation....the program can go no higher. This has been obvious to me for years.
@  bigcotton : (22 September 2014 - 03:24 AM) Yeah, that looked pretty rough, his own man just crushed it.
@  Ryan4VT : (22 September 2014 - 02:41 AM) Ike Taylors arm just snapped…...
@  vtdavis4321 : (21 September 2014 - 11:48 PM) 6 losses in 2012, 5 losses in 2013, and at least 5-6 losses in 2014, how long do you get to be "young."
@  redtiger : (21 September 2014 - 10:25 PM) agreed futbolking
@  futbolking : (21 September 2014 - 10:03 PM) Tech is young, they have some good pieces in place and some talented new coaches in just their 2nd year. I give them a couple more years....if they are not in the conversation as one of the top programs in the nation at that point...Let him go.
@  HurricaneWar... : (21 September 2014 - 07:50 PM) I know it may seem like time for him to go but as a Tennessee fan I can say when they ran Fulmer out I thought the same. Just remember, you never know what you're going to get to replace him.
@  BlueRazor : (21 September 2014 - 05:25 PM) YES ! Its time for Beamer to go......just need a change
@  hokiebird7 : (20 September 2014 - 11:32 PM) Ok I was just checking....just making sure i wasn't the only one thinking beamer should hang it up....and please take his son with him

Interesting matchup in my neck of the woods. Actually, I am planning to be there for this one. The locals early schedule has been much weaker than the Richlands slate. This is a huge determining factor for me. Obviously, the Blue Tornado squad is not as powerful as past teams; however, they are good and solid and certainly will give the Cavaliers their toughest game thus far. Trust me, the folks in Daleville are already fired up for this one. This is the classic Southwest Virginia perennial power versus an upstart working its way to notoriety in the Roanoke Valley. My edge goes to the tradition that is Richlands football. Go Blues!

The Quarterback and Running Back for Lord Botetourt are both very good.  The RB put up some very good numbers last year.  I've heard from a friend out that way that they don't throw the ball hardly at all.  Hopefully Richlands comes to play and can get the ball rolling again.  If we can clean up the passing game and step up our pass defense we have chance of being good.  Look forward to making the trip out to Daleville this Friday.

LB has had some good wins this year against some very respectable teams.  Richlands has had trouble over the past few years against teams from the Roanoke area.  LB by a touchdown.

No disrespect to Richlands, but I have a feeling LB is going to win this pretty handily.  My prediction by at least 17.  31-14.  LB is pretty tough and their RB is a beast.  I would love to see Richlands win this one to keep some notoriety going for extreme SWVA, but I just don't think it will happen.

We are definitely the underdog here. More bad news for us. Colten will not be playing Friday night. Out with a shoulder sprain. LB wins this pretty easy in my opinion. I hope we can make a good showing. If we can't throw the ball we lose big. If we can trow maybe we can keep it respectable!

Exit 150B, take a right off the exit.  Right at the first light onto 220.  Go about a mile and a half.  School is on the left

I hate to hear that he is out. Best of luck to you all, pulling for the Blues.

Oddly enough, I think I know more about Botetourt's team than that of my own alma mater with regard to this matchup.

My take is that the Blues will have to play their very best to have a shot at this one.  This looks like the best team that Botetourt has fielded in recent memory and they've got really great momentum coming into this game.  Their offense is clicking and they've played some fairly decent competition to date.  Richlands will need to control the line of scrimmage and keep the Cavs' offense on the sidelines as much as possible.  Doing that will improve their chances.

On paper this looks like an uphill climb.  But anything can happen.

Richlands will have their hands full this week and for the next two weeks with Virginia High, who is much improved, and with Bluefield.  When was the last time Richlands lost 2 or even 3 regular season games?

I love my blues,  but with Colton out and River still getting his legs under him as a starting varsity QB,  and with some issues at receiver, and the O line still coming together,  I think this might be a long night for the blues.  They are playing a lot of young players,  but they do they have the potential to be a very good team,  but I am afraid they have just too much going against them this week,  with them playing a good team that has a lot of good talent along with good coaching and at their place.

I hope I am way off on this though and the blues give them a good hard fought game !

There's a F5 BlueTornado warning for Southwest Virginia this fall !
