@  Ryan4VT : (07 December 2016 - 08:05 PM) Bowl Pick'em is ready!!
@  sixcat : (06 December 2016 - 12:47 PM) As a lifelong fan and given everything that has happened over the past 15 years, I can't discount anything at this point.
@  sixcat : (06 December 2016 - 12:46 PM) I thought about that as well but folks in Chapel Hill tend to think of themselves as being above reproach.
@  UVAObserver : (06 December 2016 - 12:19 AM) I would be surprised if that were true, given the "save men's basketball at all costs" tone coming out of their academic scandal.
@  sixcat : (05 December 2016 - 12:57 PM) Some info floating around UNC alum circles claims the school worked out a deal to play a couple of basketball games at UTEP in coming years. Be interesting to see if that rumor is true. If this happens, UNC basketball bought the football team a slot in the Sun Bowl. But UNC alum can float some pretty crazy rumor, so, we will see.
@  Ryan4VT : (05 December 2016 - 01:48 AM) @VHSLHelper I'm trying to send you a PM but I think your box is full
@  UVAObserver : (05 December 2016 - 12:57 AM) I think VT deserved a better slot. Something like the Sun Bowl, which actually has a little history behind it, unlike Charlotte, which is a clear prestige drop. Nothing against Charlotte...underrated city, enjoyed my time there in 2015 watching NCAAs.
@  Ryan4VT : (04 December 2016 - 08:54 PM) I've already applied for my press pass. Gonna watch my first ever bowl game from the box.
@  GMan : (04 December 2016 - 08:53 PM) Tickets purchased, hotel booked...my wife loves going to Charlotte...
@  GMan : (04 December 2016 - 06:45 PM) Just being a West Virginian gives you the right to be an asshole...did anyone see my post to Hacker???
@  bhs7695 : (04 December 2016 - 04:19 PM) Buying a ticket doesn't give you the right to be an asshole
@  bhs7695 : (04 December 2016 - 04:19 PM) The fanbase that this week talks about booing Skylar Howard as their "right" to do because they pay to go to the games. Just some of the comments I read on FB this week.
@  Hokiebird7 : (04 December 2016 - 03:58 PM) UVAO that's why I refuse to ever go to a game at Morganhole again...a few horses' asses yesterday just imagine how many would be there for a home game
@  UVAObserver : (04 December 2016 - 01:08 PM) VT showed a lot of gumption last night.
@  1bburgfan : (03 December 2016 - 09:17 PM) nice win eers
@  UVAObserver : (03 December 2016 - 09:09 PM) That being said, WVU is impressive. Not nearly as easy to attack off the press as years past, and WVU was solid inside. Impressed.
@  BHS03 : (03 December 2016 - 09:05 PM) Great win by WVU at UVA. Have to admit that at the beginning of the season I penciled that in as an L for the Mountaineers
@  UVAObserver : (03 December 2016 - 09:05 PM) Now I see why VT fans hate WVU fans with a passion. There are some massive horses' asses up here in Charlottesville today.
@  BHS03 : (03 December 2016 - 12:09 AM) WVU Women's Soccer team has advanced to their 1st ever National Championship game after defeating UNC 1-0 in the Semifinals
@  GMan : (02 December 2016 - 05:51 PM) Thanks for the heads-up, though!

Interesting matchup in my neck of the woods. Actually, I am planning to be there for this one. The locals early schedule has been much weaker than the Richlands slate. This is a huge determining factor for me. Obviously, the Blue Tornado squad is not as powerful as past teams; however, they are good and solid and certainly will give the Cavaliers their toughest game thus far. Trust me, the folks in Daleville are already fired up for this one. This is the classic Southwest Virginia perennial power versus an upstart working its way to notoriety in the Roanoke Valley. My edge goes to the tradition that is Richlands football. Go Blues!

The Quarterback and Running Back for Lord Botetourt are both very good.  The RB put up some very good numbers last year.  I've heard from a friend out that way that they don't throw the ball hardly at all.  Hopefully Richlands comes to play and can get the ball rolling again.  If we can clean up the passing game and step up our pass defense we have chance of being good.  Look forward to making the trip out to Daleville this Friday.

LB has had some good wins this year against some very respectable teams.  Richlands has had trouble over the past few years against teams from the Roanoke area.  LB by a touchdown.

No disrespect to Richlands, but I have a feeling LB is going to win this pretty handily.  My prediction by at least 17.  31-14.  LB is pretty tough and their RB is a beast.  I would love to see Richlands win this one to keep some notoriety going for extreme SWVA, but I just don't think it will happen.

We are definitely the underdog here. More bad news for us. Colten will not be playing Friday night. Out with a shoulder sprain. LB wins this pretty easy in my opinion. I hope we can make a good showing. If we can't throw the ball we lose big. If we can trow maybe we can keep it respectable!

Exit 150B, take a right off the exit.  Right at the first light onto 220.  Go about a mile and a half.  School is on the left

I hate to hear that he is out. Best of luck to you all, pulling for the Blues.

Oddly enough, I think I know more about Botetourt's team than that of my own alma mater with regard to this matchup.

My take is that the Blues will have to play their very best to have a shot at this one.  This looks like the best team that Botetourt has fielded in recent memory and they've got really great momentum coming into this game.  Their offense is clicking and they've played some fairly decent competition to date.  Richlands will need to control the line of scrimmage and keep the Cavs' offense on the sidelines as much as possible.  Doing that will improve their chances.

On paper this looks like an uphill climb.  But anything can happen.

Richlands will have their hands full this week and for the next two weeks with Virginia High, who is much improved, and with Bluefield.  When was the last time Richlands lost 2 or even 3 regular season games?

I love my blues,  but with Colton out and River still getting his legs under him as a starting varsity QB,  and with some issues at receiver, and the O line still coming together,  I think this might be a long night for the blues.  They are playing a lot of young players,  but they do they have the potential to be a very good team,  but I am afraid they have just too much going against them this week,  with them playing a good team that has a lot of good talent along with good coaching and at their place.

I hope I am way off on this though and the blues give them a good hard fought game !

There's a F5 BlueTornado warning for Southwest Virginia this fall !
