sixcat 2,918 Report Share Posted August 26, 2014 I haven't had cable or satellite in 3 years this October. I have great internet with 60+ MBPS and no usage limitations. I own two Roku devices with Netflix, Amazon Prime, NFL Now, WatchESPN, VEVO, Youtube, Newsy, etc. I will be purchasing either a Roku 3 or Amazon Fire TV soon. I haven't missed a college game that I have wanted to watch since before "cutting the cable cord". WatchESPN has a channel dedicated to every Division 1 conference in the country, including the SEC Network. Those channels don't limit themselves to major sports. They show every sport each university offers. I don't get many NFL games live, only what is on ESPN. I do, however, get many games rebroadcast afterward. Do research on your own. You would need very strong internet capabilities without usage limitations. Cable/Satellite companies don't control the industry anymore. I don't have to make myself available at 10PM to watch "Orphan Black" because that is when it is broadcast. I have it on demand through Amazon and can watch it on my time frame and several episodes back to back if desired.

legend11 32 Report Share Posted August 28, 2014 At some point in the next couple of years, won't ESPN (or any channel/network really) just offer online prices that we can just buy individually? That's my hope. I want to just pick and choose what programming I want without having to commit to Bravo and E!.

GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted August 29, 2014 Just to put it in my face Commcast started broadcasting the B1G Network tonight. Comcast has had B1G for a long time...I watched it last year. SECN is not on sports package either...I have Digital Preferred plus Sports Package and don't get it. Not sure what I have to do to get it... I tried last night to add SECN on-line and got a message that the offer had expired. Like GMan, I have the DIgital Preferred plus Sports Package with Comcast and ended up using ESPN Goal Line to watch the SECN games. It did mean I saw parts of New Mexico St-Cal Poly but it was something. GMan
Beamerball 566 Report Share Posted August 29, 2014 Did anyone else have trouble watching the A&M/SC game on WatchESPN? I couldn't even bring it up on the app and online it wouldn't load, tried a couple of times then gave up on it.
tbgfan 855 Report Share Posted August 29, 2014 I'm a Comcast customer here in Falcon Town and we have digital preferred-- I went the other day and signed up for the sports pkg (I do this during football season and drop after the season ends). It was $5 dollars for twelve months. In that is the SEC network--so it must be your local franchise not carrying the SEC network. I watched the game last night and I couldn't believe South Carolina AWOL defense. Life has many choices---eternity two

Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted August 30, 2014 No offense to anyone, but I cannot believe people still pay for cable TV. Satellite is FAR superior in picture quality and a much better value all around. My parents still have Comcrap living in Bluefield and pay more than I do for less channels and are regularly without service because of technical issues. I've not lost signal with Dish once that I'm aware in more than two years and get a ton of games without having to extra for a sports package; we have the MLB, NFL, NBA, SEC, BIG 10, PAC, and Longhorn networks without paying extra. The last time the cable company called me trying to get me to switch I told them I would consider it if they paid me monthly to have their service. Needless to say, they haven't called back since. Hey sixcat, I recently ditched cable myself (AT&T) but this afternoon I tried to stream several games from watchESPN and I get an error saying "unauthorized user"? I'm assuming its AT&T Uverse blocking me from streaming content. I streamed VT vs OSU tonight from another website that popped on a google search but it was full of pop ads and had lousy quality. Any way to stream watchESPN without AT&T blocking me?
