FALCON 21 Report Share Posted November 16, 2014 Congrats to the Falcons on a historic year.Very impressed with this group of seniors and their leadership. PH is the only team from our county left in the playoffs. Lets get behind them and support them (even Cavdaddy). They too have had a historic season, especially the win over Clintwood. REBELDAD 20 Report Share Posted November 16, 2014 Words can't describe how I felt Friday night. Definitely the greatest game I've been a part of as a fan and a parent. These kids are amazing. They fell behind early but didn't just give up. The difference in the game was PH going to the Wishbone on offense. I bet they ran the toss sweep left at least 7 or 8 times in a row because Cwood just couldn't stop it. Great running by Humphreys And Great blocking by the big guys! ThomasDenton 79 Report Share Posted November 16, 2014 With Abingdon finally turning things around and Holston and Battle having success these last few years, it's really odd to see that PH is the only one still going in the playoffs. But I'm really happy these teams are getting better and I'll be cheering PH on all the way. Go Rebels! Rebel35

sixcat 2,919 Report Share Posted November 17, 2014 Galax wants to control the line of scrimmage and force you to throw the football. However, they don't do a very good job defending the pass. It will be interesting to see if PH can throw it to loosen up the Galax defense. Offensively, Galax has nothing that resembles a passing game. They have attempted 89 passes through 11 games with a completion percentage of less than 40%. Galax was 0-1 passing Friday night against Twin Valley. To me, they had three quarters to work on it given a 35-0 lead after one quarter. It will bite them in the arse just like each of the past two seasons, its just a matter of when. Rebel35 3 Report Share Posted November 17, 2014 Sixcat, thanks for the heads up. The Rebels throw the ball very well. We have a top shelf QB and excellent receivers. We have had to throw alot this season to loosen up defenses. We had to throw quite abit early against Clintwood, it helped open up the run then our backs and O line took over. sixcat 2,919 Report Share Posted November 17, 2014 To me, Galax/PH and Haysi/Covington are the two most intriguing games this weekend, especially in 1A. Covington and Parry McCluer are hard to get a handle on because the district is so weak, maybe the weakest in the state. Parry McCluer is 11-0 without really being tested all season. It shows as they are a #6 seed in 1A east. They only played two playoff teams during the regular season, Auburn and Covington. Neither strike fear in familiar opponents. Covington's helter skelter offense can pose problems for unfamiliar opponents but district foes have seen almost everything they can do. I think Covington moves the football early but Haysi controls the line of scrimmage and wears Covington down and dominates after halftime. As for Galax/PH, it will come down to how PH handles Galax's front seven. They are as good as you will find in 1A football. If Galax imposes its will, it could be a long night for PH. If PH can throw the football enough to loosen up the front seven and put the back 4 on their heels, it could be much closer than people think. If Galax is forced to have to throw the football, get out the basketballs! redtiger
