BeaverHokie 35 Report Share Posted January 17, 2015 Apparently long dormant topic, but with another loss to Westside, what the heck is wrong with Bluefield basketball? Or is Westside that good all of a sudden?
GMan 3,569 Author Report Share Posted January 17, 2015 They are young and inexperienced. They lost five players off of a team that won the State Championship twice. This was a rebuilding year, and anybody that didn't think it was going to be is only kidding themselves. Give these kids time, they'll be back... Folks are used to Bluefield just reloading in basketball, to an extent, but that appears to not be the case now. Bluefield is playing 0.500 basketball, and it's easy to say "What happened?" as that isn't the norm. Also, the WV competition is apparently pretty solid, with Bluefield beating an apparently really good Graham team twice in a season.
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted January 18, 2015 Prior to the previous three years (2012, 2013, 2014) Beaver hadn't had any really good basketball teams (by their standards) since around 2007, so they hadn't reloaded in about five years. It would appear Bluefield has a strong freshmen class that could potentially strongly contend for several additional AA titles in the coming 3 years. And west of Radford HS basketball in VA is not overly strong. Graham has a strong team in SWVA, but they would struggle to seriously compete in any class of WV basketball. If they were going to beat Beaver on the hardwood this was the year to do so. Deleted Account
