Union-49 Central-46 @ Union

Union scored another conference win tonight, holding off Central by three.

It was a crazy, terribly officiated game. Before you call me a Union homer here are some facts:

Until the last two minutes of the fourth quarter, Union shot TWO free throws. Union pounds the ball inside and works around the basket, yet only shoots two FTs until Wise was forced to foul late.

Wise shot 60% from the three point line, 72% from the field in the second half, Union shot two FTs before the end, and Wise STILL couldnt beat us.

Wise played as best as they could possibly play, Union did not, and Union still won.

I love beating Wise. Union is something like 10-2/9-2/9-3 against Central in b-ball since consolidation.

Central girls won by 15, 45-30 IIRC. Reynolds was the leading scorer, huge shocker.

Union boys were led by Barnett, while the leading scorer for Central was #22 Mills, their shooter.

You those officials you swore were against GC at Union?

One of them is blackballed from ever doing games again because how terribly he called the game against Union, and thats a fact jack.

So I have no gripe that Union shot two free throws thru three and a half quarters, when Union plays inside out and runs their offense around the basket?

If any non-bias fans were there, they would agree with me 100%.

Nice to see you disappeared when I pointed out Union and GC are 2-2 in regular season football since Union came into existence.

GC has never lost a big game to Union in any sport, period. GC wins in the football playoffs and the basketball tournament and the volleyball tournament. I just hope they can beat Va so GC can win the league again. Out of curiosity, do you sleep with a Phil Robbins picture every night?

So no we aren't little brother, just haven't won a big game. Keep changin that argument GURU baby, doesn't make it sting any less that GC already lost to Union once and could lose again.

I dont sleep with a picture of Phil Robbins, do you jerk off to pictures of Scotty Vermillion every night?

Volleyball? Since when do boys play volleyball? I know nothing about girls sports, so that means nothing to me.

Let's not get into the argument about the past, because we know that PV will always own GC as they have more state titles than GC in football.

I love bringing up 1997. You guys claim a state championship, but you were the THIRD best team in the region. You guys lost to both Appalachia and Powell Valley, both state title winners, but got a consolation prize of a state title. LOL

Union has been around all of four full years now, GC has been a school for 50+ years. Union, to be a school that has only been open since 2011, to be able to split the regular season with GC at 2-2 football is pretty damn good.

Union has went to GC and won, if another school had been in existence only four seasons and went to GC and won you'd have a stroke.

Face it, Union is on GC's level, and those wins will only continue to rack up for Union.

You hope we beat VHS again? Why? If we beat VHS (at Union) again and go to GC and win, the district is likely ours.

But you keep that hope big boy, just know that Union is here, and they are your equal. You can bully around Norton, or Battle, but you damn sure cant bully Union, because we know we CAN beat you.

The town of Big Stone has more football state titles, basketball state titles, and baseball state titles than Gate City. How bout them apples, GURU?

Stats from last night's Union/Wise game:

Central:

Dude Bro Cameron Salyers led the team with 18 points, 6 FG and 5-7 from the FT line (1 3PM) while playing harassing defense (a lot of the times holding, but I wont go into that). Caleb Mills was the only other Warrior in double figures with 14, hitting four three point shots and two FTs). Daniel England led Central with six rebounds.

Total: 16 FG (6-10 from 3pt), 8-14 from FT line.

Union:

Union was led by Jake Barnett's 17 points (7 FG, 3-3 from the line) and he added seven rebounds and at least two blocks. James Mitchell was the only other Bear in double figures, adding 10 points (5 FG) and at least four blocks. Jay Gavin led Union in rebounds with seven, adding two points and at least one block. Rashaan Noaks only had two points, but had two crucial offensive rebounds to seal the game.

Total: 21 FG (3 3PM), 4-9 FT. Union had shot two free throws until the last minute of the game. Central shot all of their FTs before the last minute of the game.

And I apologize for short changing Eliza Mullins, who led the Central girls with 16 points (3 3PM) while Reynolds had 8. Ali Morgan led Union with 11 points.

Wow. BigWinners...........I am starting to worry about you.

Take a deep breath man. It is high school athletics.

You seem infatuated with comparing Union to GC, well...actually you want to only compare regular season football records. That in itself is pretty funny.

I don't think anyone on here would say that Union does not have a good football program. I'll take your word for it that the regular season football record is 2-2. I THINK GC has won two playoff games during that time, so I guess Union's real record against GC in football is 2-4. No matter what the record actually is, everyone knows that Union has a good program.

Tell your fellow GC fan GURU that. He is the one dead set on belittling Union at every corner.

Man BigWinners and Guru are taking us all back in time to when the LPD Forum was thriving. I'm not sure who's trolling who here.

And just because I can't resist, in 1997 GC was not better than PV and won state. But in 1989 PV was not better than GC and they won state. GC was knocked out in game 11 that year. That's what happens in rivalrys. You can throw out the record books.

But like Great City said, anyone with sense knows that Union has a great program in most everything (boys & girls). There's no reason for a shouting match with every new thread.

Explain to me what is sexist?

Here are my quotes in regards to girls sports:

I read the scoreboard wrong, I thought it credited Reynolds with 16 points. Exxcccuuussseeee me. I dont really care about girls basketball anyway, I didnt get their til the fourth quarter.

and

Volleyball? Since when do boys play volleyball? I know nothing about girls sports, so that means nothing to me

How is that sexist in any way? I said I know nothing about girls sports, and that I do not care for girls basketball. That is sexist? Give me a break.

You marginalized females with your comments. That's obvious.

How come you're not showing the blocked dunk that VT had on UVA before the one you posted in the vid??? That was more impressive than the run-of-the-mill ally-oop...I'll see if I can find that for you...

Because I can't post a 10-minute video of that clinical 17-2 run to ice it. So I just posted the moment I knew we would win.

But by all means, show me some random block in a game you lost at home. If you want to see a classic block, I can show you a clip from last year's ACC Tournament where 3 Cavaliers blocked a Pitt layup attempt at the same time. Or Justin Anderson's block of The Invisible Hand after Will Johnston didn't have the balls to shoot a relatively open 3 of his own.

Hate to say it...that was when I knew VT wouldn't win as well...

If its obvious, explain it? Because I dont enjoy their sports, its marginalizing them? Thats stupid.

I dont enjoy lacrosse, am I marginalizing it?

I said nothing sexist and will not apologize, and if RyanVT has something else to say, man up and say it.
