Not a math guru but looking at the remaining games, Union should be the #1 seed if they win out. Central-Lee-Letcher games are huge points games for them. Nobody else has three big points games left. Plus they've got Richlands and John I. Burton getting them points every single week.

Richlands will have some points they can make up also.

If they beat Abingdon - they will only be a 1 loss team

Giles and Glenvar - 1 will have a loss by the end of the season - they also beat up on the same teams which several are 1A

Appomattox - If they beat their remaining schedule they will be #1 because of Amherst County (I don't believe they will beat them)

Only thing that hurts Union is having Eastside on their schedule - but i think they have the best chance to be #1 or definitely #2 if Appomattox doesn't lose

Yeah I'm hoping Richlands gets the 3 seed in front of the Giles and Glenvar loser and hoping Appomattox loses to Amherst co. Richlands would probably be the higher 1 loss team. I'm with you though I think the top 4 or 5 teams in the west are better than the best team in the east

I think union will jump Appomattox anyway both have two 1 win teams left and a 1a team left. Lee high, Central and Letcher should help Union if both win out.

Appomattox gets 2a points off of Altavista because they are in the same district.

Union can certainly be the #1 seed even if Appo wins out, but it will take some help from Eastside and David Crockett(both have several winnable games left). Appo should be a lock for #2 even if they lose to Amherst. There is a scenario where Richlands gets the #3 seed if Giles beats Glenvar.

If Richlands is #4 I want Union #2 and if they're #3 I want Union #1. No reason for these two teams to meet again unless it's in the state game. Any other way would just be a waste.

Barring a loss by Appo or Union I don't see the Giles/Glenvar winner getting above the #3 seed in any scenario. And any help from Radford would be greatly appreciated. :)

Scale goes.... (for winning)...1A-16, 2A-18, 3A-20, and so forth. 2 "bonus" pts, per classification, for playing a lower classification team IN district and 1 pt for OUT of district.

Wins mean everything. The way it is looking so far, Union will get more points for beating 1A Burton than Appo will get for either of their 3A teams.

The race between Union/Appo looks like it would be really close to me if they win out.  Don't forget Eastside is a 1A team also on Union's remaining schedule.  If I've figured it all up correctly, it's a difference of 3 more points Appo. can pick up over Union for win point totals only from their remaining schedule, but Union can pick up 4 more than Appo. from the wins the teams they have left currently have.  I think it will come down to who can pick up the most points from future wins the teams on their schedules can accumulate (which I'd say probably favors Appo.).  Again, assuming they both win out.

If Amherst wins a couple of there remaining games it may be just enough to push Appomattox ahead of Union. Its going to be close

Im hoping for a Giles win Friday Night and Radford to beat them....lol. That would be great but wishful thinking I know

That's right BigO,  you guys need to be on here talking up your team,  they're playing great football and may be ( or IS )  the best team that the Falcons have had in a long time.  They look like they could be good enough to make a little run in AAA this year..........and personally,  I would love to see them make some noise in AAA.

So get on here and talk them up,  maybe not in a way that reminds us of the 2 bird brains  ( even though I do miss their.........never mind,  no I don't ! )   but you guys should be enjoying this year on here !

Sorry guys. I haven't really been absent, just haven't posted a lot. I have a new job and I'm not as in touch with the team as I have been in the past. My son graduated too so that may have something to do with me not being as in touch. I do agree though....this team looks great. But our defense worries me a bit. I have a bad feeling about you guys this year. I'd put our offense up against anyone's right now but I just get the feeling we are going to have to put up huge numbers to even be close to you guys because of our D. Our guys are pretty quick on D but I just think we lack a little size. For example, we should have blown Blacksburg away and yet we BARELY won. Graham tested us pretty good too, huh? We won by 10 but they put up 47 on us. I think we will finish the season undefeated except for RHS. I hope the staff can do some pretty good scheming against Mance but that's asking a lot. We will have to show Asbury some looks he's not seen on film and confuse him. We will HAVE to play some kids both ways to have a chance. Fulton will have to go to playing some Will or Sam. That kids attacks the runner as opposed to letyng him come to him. Right now it looks as though our backers let the play come to them too much. Our DBs are going to have play tighter and stick with their man. But, hey, even if we do finish 9-1 I'll take it! A home playoff game? Dang skippy I'd be happy!
