Abingdon Basketball Coach

I am sorry if I seem like I am venting, because I am. Abingdon High School has yet to find a Boys Basketball coach and we are three weeks away from the start of practice. Keep in mind the kids did not go to summer camp and have had no fall open gyms. I have no connection to the program, but I truly feel sorry for the kids. I guess that gives me incentive to not quit coaching. They may not find a replacement for a year in my sports.

According to administration, several individuals have been recommended for the job, all recommendations have been squashed by board or members thereof. This past week, another name was brought forth, but I have not heard anything else.

Yeah I realize there have been two that were recommended to the SB, but both were not accepted for justifiable reasons. We are all hoping that we can get the coach in place for the student-athletes. I have heard a few different names at school, but I guess we will have to wait and see.

Per Abingdon officials, Johnathan Hubbard is the new boys basketball coach for the Falcons. He played at Montreat College. #HCBB #VHSL

Fair enough. I would just think the powers to be in Abingdon would be above hiring someone so young

I don't understand why comments like this need to be made. We had a tough time finding somebody to take the job, but I think he will do a fine job. We were going to struggle this year anyway. I hope this year will be used to get our young talent ready for the future. I'm confident AHS hoops will be alright under Hubbard.
