Richlands @ Gate City

I hate to hear Collier will be out.  Hopefully he will be able to come back to play some for his senior season.  I don't mean any disrespect to him but I don't think the outcome of the game against Richlands will be affected by his absence.  Richlands will have too many weapons Friday night.  If the stay healthy I believe they will have a really good football season.

I will be extremely surprised if Richlands loses to Gate City this week.  Gate is rebuilding this year.

I feel like this game could be out of hand very quickly if GC doesn't have a defense. I think GC will be back, but this year could be a bit ugly.

I have a lot of respect for the GC program,  but I think this year the game will not be as close as it normally is.  GC has a lot of pride and we know that they will give it everything they have, but I also think they may be a year or 2 away from getting back to the Devils we all know,  and unless they have great corners and/or can put a lot of pressure on JLA they will have a hard time slowing down the blues O.   The injury to collier sure doesn't help,  I hate that he is hurt and will miss this game. especially since it is his sr year.  I hate to see any kid miss any time in his sr year,  it just seems to fly by anyway.  I hope he is able to return quickly.

The one thing that still concerns me a little about the blues, is their run D,  although it looked good this past Friday against the Tigers,  that was a game we should have been dominant in. We should get a little  better idea about that part of the D this Friday.  I also worry a little bit about our kicking game.  I hope/think our offense will be good enough to where we will not have to worry about how good our kicking game is,  but the kicking game hurt us last year in the loss to Union so it can come back to bite you.

Should be another big crowd and great atmosphere and I can't wait !

( I stated above that Collier will miss this game,  I know he is injured,  but I am not sure as to how bad.  I just heard from someone else that he may not play in this game,  so if I am wrong I apologize. )

I predict the score may be as close as 28-7 but could be as lopsided as 42-7. I'm not taking anything from Gate City. I'm sure they will give it their all. McClung leaving the football team will hurt. Collier's injury is definitely not going to help matters. Gate City will be back to their normal selves within a year or two. Richlands is Richlands.

I'm not sure what we'll have this week, but I can almost bet we'll be a much different bunch by playoff time. Barring anymore injuries of course. Y'all have a safe trip!

Agreed. Looking forward to making the trip down. Love the atmosphere at Legion.

Collier is out.

We are a couple of years away from starting to really compete again.

Three wins this year will be good. Four are possible. Got to keep players healthy, and improve each week.

Players are working hard, and practicing hard. They seem to have bought into the new philosophies.

Hate to hear Collier is injured.  That definitely changes the dynamic with GC.and what they can do.  What type of injury is it?  From the sound of some comments sounds like something might be broken.  Anyway Hope the kid can get back to the field sooner rather than later and play out his Sr year.

Looking from afar in Blacksburg I believe the Clinch Mountain will be wide open. Union probably is the favorite but only because everyone else is so weak. Central might be the second best team and Ridgeview the third. People I talk to up here at Tech from Gate City say that the Devils will be going through a young phase in all sports. Football, Baseball and could possibly finish 3rd or 4th in basketball behind Union, Central and maybe even Lee. So by the sound of all the talk the Clinch Mountain is Union's to lose, Central's to sneak in to take, Ridgeview's to look at and the "Playoffs?" soundbite will be heard all year long in Gate City.

Kind of refutes the narrative that the CMD is God's gift to football...
