1A and 2A West UNOFFICIAL power points through week 4

That happened to Abingdon in 3A last year.  9-1 record.  guess what your the 7 seed. 

 

A 2A schedule being a 3A team will do that to you.  Granted, it's not Abingdon's fault, they're just geographically challenged being the only 3A team west of Christiansburg.

That is certainly true.  Even with playing Blacksburg and Christiansburg which are 3A, Christiansburg being down will hurt this year for sure.  Even if Abingdon wins out or is a 1 loss team they will likely be a 6-7 seed.

I have the same order you do for 2A with the exception of Appomattox. I have them at #2 with a 23 rating.

 

Don't forget that William Campbell is a district opponent, so they get 2 extra points for playing an in district 1-A team.

I went back and recalculated Appomattox, and you're right, but I have them at 23.5 now.

Also, I have Abingdon at #5 in 3A West now.  Of note, both Rustburg and Brookville with one loss are both ahead of Abingdon unofficially.

This is the point total I have for each game for Appo.... Buckingham - 20, Rustburg - 26, Heritage(Lyn) - 26, William Campbell - 20

I think they get 22 for Campbell. Even though they're 1A they get 2 extra points for being in the same district

Yep, but Campbell only has 1 win. So, Appo gets 16 base points(for beating a 1A team), 2 "classification" points(for playing a 1A team in district), and 2 points for their 1 win.  16+2+2=20

 

Does that make sense?

The Official ratings are giving Appo 23.5. Looks like they are giving Rustburg a win over Alleghany even though their Weekly scores has Alleghany winning that one. Accurate information is always best.

Looks like VHSL is awarding 2 bonus points per classification for playing smaller teams whether it is in district or not. That will help several teams.

VHSL have errors on the first release of anything?      Say it isn't so.

 

Just wait till it takes till week 8 to fix it and screw up something else.

 

I trust the guys that tabulate this stuff on this board more so than I trust the VSHL.

Unfortunately a LOT of games that would affect 1A West and 2A West power points got rained out last night and are being played either tonight or Monday night.

 

Anyways, after last night, here is how I have the top 5 in 1A and 2A West.
