bucfan64 307 Report Share Posted December 8, 2016 Sadly, teams become victims of their own success. Fans get "used to it," and begin to expect it, deep playoff runs become the norm and a successful season is seen by many as a failure if the Championship trophy isn't brought back to town. The real losers are the kids, whether it be those that established the tradition and commitment or the ones who are trying to carry on the legacy. Their efforts seem to be undermined when this happens. When Grundy started their run in wrestling, we witnessed police escorts, victory parades down 460 all the way to town, now hardly even a mention of it at school, not even a ceremony in front of the student body. Ryan4VT 4,546 Author Report Share Posted December 8, 2016 The town has responded. Scores of businesses posted signs, painted windows, changed marquees, etc. So ready for Saturday. old_school_blue and Bigrhsfan
Ryan4VT 4,546 Author Report Share Posted December 9, 2016 Setting up a sendoff for the boys. Their bus leaves the field house at 10:30am on Saturday. Asking fans to line the roads from the field house all the way to Walmart. Help spread the word. Bigrhsfan and Bulldogs52

Good luck Blues, this G-Man will be rooting for you all. Ryan4VT
BlackWolf5 26 Report Share Posted December 9, 2016 Why is Richlands not staying the night before the game in Salem! I'm not a coach or anything but this is the state championship game and you would like to have all of your player with you so you can make sure they're all in bed and not out all night right!! Just my opinion
old_school_blue 247 Report Share Posted December 9, 2016 Players rest better in their own beds. No need for an overnight stay. RCITYHOO
Ryan4VT 4,546 Author Report Share Posted December 9, 2016 Players rest better in their own beds. No need for an overnight stay. This is the reasoning behind them staying here. They can get a good nights sleep in their own beds and then can get up on Saturday morning and get a walkthrough on our own field before heading out. BlackWolf5 26 Report Share Posted December 9, 2016 That's true but will every player be in bed by 10 or 11 to make sure they get 8hrs of rest!

I would hope they would understand what's at stake and realize they need their rest. But I understand where you're coming from.
oldfool 98 Report Share Posted December 9, 2016 I would think their parents will have a hand in helping out in that. It's tough to get a good nights rest before a big event like this. I had to employ some unorthodox methods back in the day for myself to get some rest.
