He originally committed to Carson Newman, then de-committed and went to UVa-Wise.  He played one season there, then dropped out and haven't heard anything from him since.

Hate to hear that. His defensive play ranks amongst some of the best that I've seen.

Two things about that game stand out.  One, the officiating crew lost control midway through the third quarter and struggled to finds ways to regain it.  Both sides got chirpy and chippy.  Haysi was talented as a group and wore Peoples down as the game went on, which brings me to point number two.  Galax ran 64 offensive plays, Steven Peoples was responsible for 48 of them.  He finished with 341 yards and all four Galax touchdowns.  What he needed was help!

Haysi may very well have won that game anyway but when you're that reliant on one player and don't develop anything in support of that one player, somebody is eventually going to take advantage of that weakness and Haysi/Colley did that very thing.

The refs most definitely lost control.  It didn't get too far out of hand and that's a testament to the quality of the kids.

The Tide offense was most definitely the Peoples show. Others players had chances and couldn't capitalize. A TE Seam on 4th down comes to mind. Not enough diversity offensively.

Peoples had 341 yards and Haysi controlled the Galax offense. Spectacular game plan.  The Tigers worked him on Defense too. Ran 4 wide all game and forced him to chase WRs that never got the football, it helped wear him down. By the 4th quarter he was a shell of himself

One of the best single game performances for the losing team I ever witnessed.

It was incredible, it truly was.

The Haysi D went in knowing that the Tide running game was unstoppable, the key was to win a couple of possessions. They got Galax behind on downs a few times and forced Galax out of their game plan.
