I don't agree with a 0-10 making the playoff, but I don't agree with leaving a good 8-2 7-3 6-4 5-5 team home.

Make a rule you have to 3 win or more, 5 wins or more, etc to make the playoffs

Just for the record, the outrageous fees that are being charged by these institutions to host the State Playoff games or State Finals does play a huge factor in the # of teams getting playoff births. 

I don't know if it is as much about "greed," as it is about NEED. 

I have seen the #'s it's not what people think. 

I suspect a strong move to go back to the old system  of allowing a team to actually host a game or allow them to host on a neutral field in their region. The league has discussed this due to the increasing costs of using these facilities. 

I'm not a pro-VHSL kind of person, but I have sat in on a few of these meetings and what I am saying does have merit. 

I still cling to the old protocol, which really made a playoff birth seem special.

Socialism, my view is just the opposite of socialism.  I say leave their azz at home.  Socialism would say put them all in the playoffs cause my little Johnny deserves to play.  Either way I really don't care because in the end they get their azz kicked anyway.  Don't you have a school facelift referendum to go vote for or a playoff game to prepare for?

Done and I'll leave that to the coaching staff. Don't really know why that is relevant though.

lets see,MNT. district UNION, RIDGEVEIW, SWD GRAHAM, MARION OR VA HIGH(dont know who came in 2nd,-out of C you get GLEVAR,GILES,and APPOMATTOX, GRETNA???dont know who placed 2nd there. the most deserving teams out of the west. champs UNION host MARION /VA HIGH, GRAHAM HOST RIDGE VEIW, winners play each other week 2, week 3 D plays C CHAMP WEEK 4 STATE GAME. Yes some good teams get left out, but if you win your district or runner up your in. maybe a wild card for two teams with the most power points, but 15 weeks may be too long

That's pretty similar to what it use to be, but VHSL changed it all around and started going by the point system.

I love the point system, but  winning your district should count for something.I know as a former PV player we would beat every team in the Cumberland and black diamond districts but we would sit at home while they went to the playoffs, we understood that and I had no problem with that, win and your in, with the teams with the highest power points getting a wild card/winning record. In the regions that only have a few teams....sorry no rewards or wild cards for those districts regions

Actually, you'd have two 8-2 teams and a 7-3 team left out on BOTH sides of the bracket. That's 6 teams with damn good records that would sit at home. I could get behind East v. West with 12 teams in each. 

I can make a solid argument why a 7-3 team shouldn't be in the playoffs. I can do the same for the 5th best(by power points) 8-2.

But I can see how 12 addresses all issues. I just whole heartedly disagree with bye weeks for high school sports, especially with the last week of the season being open for most teams
