BearDawg 105 Report Share Posted December 31, 2017 Saw that he scored his 1000th point in the Arby’s last year and just got his 2000th in it tonight. Is it reasonable to think he will break the vhsl scoring record this year. Furthermore, breaking the season scoring mark set by Allen Iverson of 948? Dick_Vitale 342 Report Share Posted December 31, 2017 He has 13 regular season games left. I assume that there will be a district tournament (3 games)? and a Region(3-4 games) tournament, quaterfinal, semi final, and state final... Rough math says he has a max of 23 games left. He needs 34 points a game to achieve this. Of course, a lot of variables go into this. It is possible but doubtful I think. It’ll be a show for sure. Thanks. And ur right @Unionguy_2017, can’t count him out. Unionguy_2017
Leatherhead Larry 530 Report Share Posted December 31, 2017 I’ve been waiting on this thread. If GC can get a good run at the title and Mac stays hot, he could get close, only time will tell. But I know Mac, the rest of the team, and Coach Vermillion are only worried about one thing. And that’s winning the state championship. But any records broke along the way are a nice feather in the cap.

Lee High - 47 Central-Wise - 37 Daniel Boone - 35 Knoxville Christian - 29 North Mecklenburg - 26 TN High - 40 Fern Creek - 44 Lakota East - 28 286 through 8 games. That’s 35.75 per game. Extrapolating that through 23 possible remaining games, he would score 822 in his remaining games to total 1108, which would easily break Iverson’s mark. I think such a scoring average is plausible, even likely, considering basketball in SWVA isn’t very good and that McClung has already played the “meat” of his regular season schedule. He would need to average about 31 PPG to break Iverson’s mark. As for career totals, he has at least 2000. 822 more would put him at least at 2882. He has to move at a slightly brisker pace in relation to the season mark, as his “margin for error” is about 100 points. He needs about 32 PPG to break that. Dick_Vitale 342 Report Share Posted December 31, 2017 I like to look at what he did against the local teams and compare that to the next 13 games. He "Should/Could" average 40 points a game... Give him some cushion when the postseason begins in case he has an off night by scoring 25 lol. Factors that I think that play in are how far GC goes this year (obviously) and how much He/Vermillion pump the breaks against the local teams. Judging by what he did against Lee/Wise/TN High, I doubt there will be much pumping of the breaks though. Liam McPoyle 1,863 Report Share Posted December 31, 2017 Personally, I'd love to see him bring it back to Scott County. I was at the game when Stacy Ervin broke Odell Hodge's record at Twin Springs in '97. Of course, we'll never know what the record might have been if Allen Iverson had played his senior season. No, but it was a really good team. I think Gate City was still in the LPD at the time, so that was probably in 1969. Man...that was a long time ago.....PV had some really good teams under Coach Paye. Pressed and trapped all over the floor, and liked to get out on the break. BigWinners
