LL Southeast Regionals

Recommended Posts

Abingdon defeats Smith County (TN), 4-2.  They will play Martinez Evans (GA) on Tuesday afternoon, the winner of that game will move on to play Coulwood Oakdale (NC).  Martinez Evans beat Summersville (WV), 16-3, today.  Whoever advances to the final will have to play North Springs (FL), who is the defending champ returning 5 players from that team.  They won the U.S. World Series title last year and lost by a run to Panama in the World final; strong team with good sized kids.  North Springs has beaten Martinez Evans (20-1) and Coulwood (16-1) in this Region tournament.

Abingdon defeated Martinez Evans (GA) 4-1 this morning and Coulwood Oakdale (NC) 14-4 this afternoon to advance to the championship game against North Springs (FL) tomorrow morning at 11 am.  I work with two fathers and a mother of a couple of the kids for Abingdon.  Pretty nice experience for some local kids.

I wonder what his parents were thinking watching that outburst and I'm sure the GA coaches were NOT happy with his antics either.  SAD …  :(

Congrats Abingdon...  extremely proud of you...now go win the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!!

Have saw quite a few of those girls play travel ball with Hit Chicks.  That organization has an appropriate name as they flat out put the bat on the ball.  Not unusual to see some girls from Gate City playing with them also.

The team from Patrick County is representing Virginia in the Dixie Youth World Series.  I grew up in Fries playing baseball with one of the coaches of the team.  He has a son on the team.  They are 2-0 with wins over Texas (6-0) and Arkansas (7-6).  They play Louisiana tonight at 8:00.

In regular LLWS action, Loudoun (VA) plays Peachtree City (GA) today at 3:00 in the Southeast Region finals.  The winner goes to the LLWS.  No Virginia team has ever made it to Williamsport.
