In the final game of the season, Richlands (8-1) traveled to Marion (7-1-1) with both losing earlier to Gate City. Both teams had prolific offenses and stingy defenses. A dense fog enveloped Hurricane Stadium to the point that the radio announcers could only guess at what was happening. What was to be an epic match-up turned into 48 minutes of miscues and chaos.
