Morristown West is NOT a 6A team in Virginia. They may be in TN, but in VA they are 3A, the exact same as LB. That was not a 2A beating a 6A, it was a 2A beating a 3A.

4A actually.  But, exactly @Ryan4VT.  Same equivalent as Richlands beating William Byrd more or less.

Look my point ain't trying to convince you if Union could beat Bluefield. I'm pretty sure it could go 50/50 or the bears get gutted. My point was in the beginning to say The almighty Bluefield got beat by a Virginia team. And that the top 10 poll should show the new number 1.

Virginia used to only have three classes A , AA , AAA. Now that they have six classes, doesn't mean that 5a and 6a are now bigger; the "pie" is just broken up into 6 pieces not three. So, basically 1A, 2A ( old A), 3A, 4A (old AA), 5A, 6A (old AAA). The sizes of the schools are the same. I don't know where the enrollment breakoff for AAA is in West Virginia ( less urban areas),but AAA in West Virginia is more than likely closer in size to a 5A 6A in Virginia, not a 3A.

You’re sort of right, sort of not.

virginia was still 6 classes even before it was 1A-6A. It was just broke into A division 1&2, AA division 3&4, AAA division 5&6. There was still 6 state champions in Virginia.

WV only has around 115 schools total so the numbers don’t line up like they do in VA. Princeton, for example, is AAA in WV, but their enrollment of a littler more than 1,000 would mean they would also be AAA in VA.

Campbell Midland is WV’s largest school with around 1,950 students. They are AAA in WV. They would most like fit in the 5A range in VA, possibly 6A, but they are the only school even close to that.

William Byrd - 1047

Botetourt - 1028

Mo West - 1551, same enrollment as Nansemond River, a 5A school. Not sure why they are only classified 4A in VA.

While Byrd or LB could defeat West not quite equivalent comparing enrollments. Mo West is 50% larger than those schools.

Union playing them would be more comparable to Richlands playing a school with an enrollment of 1632.

I think he was referring to 1970-1985 when Va was only A, AA, AAA. The A -1A/2A, AA-3A/4A, AAA-5A/6A didn't start until 1986.
