The team is more about than what I originally thought, I approached it more like a college team. This is high scholl and while I truly try and judge the sport itself as objectively and with the same lense as other levels on a purely technical basis, I shouldnt. I should shut the hell up and let all these kids enjoy it.

Had to be. This was far from his best year. Mullins from Wise had a better year in limited action. I'm legit pissed Wagner got passed over, he was Unions best OL. Watch the film

Don't get me wrong, pre-injury he was top notch. Unfortunately he lost alot with the injury. Second team year in my opinion, great kid however.

I don’t wanna name any kids, but for Ridgeview there are a couple undeserving and one in particular that got hosed. Just my opinion. I don’t know all these kids by name, but I for sure see a few head scratchers. Congrats to all though. Hope the kids are proud of the accomplishment. It was a good competitive year in the district.

LOL  I see a few Head Scratchers myself from Ridgeview and some that got F'd.  A few Headscratchers on the Central side as well.  Honestly thought I would see more 1st team OL from Ridgeview. I guess they wanted to even it out. I thought Mullins did a good job for us at QB when McAmis when downI thought honestly we wouldn't have anyone so I guess it all worked out.

Union received 22 awards? Holy cow, they finished third.

23 kids on 1st team O  LOL  you can only play 11 at a time

Abingdon-District champs got only 6 of them

Ridgeview- 2nd place got only 5

Union-3rd Place got as many as Abingdon 1ST place team with 6

Please someone tell me how a team in 3rd place can get as many as the 1st place team and more than the 2nd place team

All District teams have become a joke, a participation trophy for everyone.

I'd much rather see a state champion, or even a regional champion.

All district teams may be a joke to armchair qb’s but to the kids on this list it means something I promise. Sure there are always a few political picks and there definitely are on this list but it’s always been that way and always will.

This is my feeling as well. I would not call it a participation trophy for everyone cause there are 7 teams in the district. Each coach is trying to get some attention for their players.

Post season awards have less to do with the player than how hard the school’s HC pushes for them at the meeting. This list shows me that Coach Turner emphasizes post season honors more than other HCs, & that’s fine. A nomination is going to have a positive impact on a kid, so 30 kids on first team O or D means that many more kids are going to feel pride in their playing time. I’m cool with that. Downward trending participation has been widely discussed & expanded post season honors could be one more tool to combat that trend.

Yeah Ridgeview Off and Def POY that's a joke!!! They've choked 2 years in a row. Polier from Union got rippped.

I do agree with you on the Def POY.  I don't think Ridgeview deserved it however I think Polier is where he should have been.  I also think that OL POY should have went to the kid from Abingdon alone.   By having all these kids getting awards is teaching them nothing.  You have some that got 2nd team who are better than some who got 1st.  Some got HM who should have gotten 1st or 2nd.  In the end everyone won I guess LOL

LPD had 7 also and never had this many.  It teaches kids nothing.  Heck if I were a kid and done the math its not hard to figure out that I can miss x # of practices and have a certain % that I will make 1st, 2nd, or HM regardless.

Gotta love “grown ups” hiding behind a keyboard calling kids out by name for as  a “joke”being recognized for a good season. If there are kids from “your” team that you have a problem with take it up with your HC. I strongly doubt any kid on this list was missing practice every week.
