  2. Turns out gobble does not have a 6 game suspension. Heard that he apparently just “took a leave of absence”
  3. Yesterday
  4. Yes, and hopefully a matching stadium soon to follow...
  5. The real question is will they go back to the under center wing T or switch it up and go full blown air raid
  6. Correct color. Looks great. Hopefully ours turns out as nice.
  7. https://x.com/RonnieD31346681/status/1782582167832293800 Richlands looking good.
  8. Who has a kid that will be Oc, principal or new coach
  9. Last week
  10. Still nothing happening at THS on the football field. Lights have been installed at the softball field.
  11. Don't reach too much further. You might hurt yourself
  12. all in the family well except for.......
  13. You're right, physical abuse of a child is far less egregious than driving drunk. What was I thinking? /s I'll say it again because you seem to be pretty dense. Two wrongs don't make a right!!! Whataboutism has no place in the discussion of child abuse. By the way, justifying the physical abuse of a 15 year old kid based on something that happened in a college basketball game 32 years ago is pretty absurd!
  14. You know a situation is bad when your own brother in law is about to fire you and put his own kid in as an OC .
  15. You're right, a better analogy was the one with the Algebra teacher because using the drunk driving analogy was absurd.
  16. Appropriate behavior for public school employees when dealing with public school students, whether those students belong to them or not, is something that is clearly defined by state law within the public school ecosystem. Kevin Clifford was fired instantly from Patrick Henry - Roanoke more than 20 years ago for grabbing a football player in a similar fashion. Does a drunk driver get a pass when he crashes into a family of four because he's never crashed into anyone before? Maybe a better analogy, would the Algebra teacher be forgiven after grabbing a student by the chest, screaming in that students face, shaking them, and slap punch them in the back as they shove that student down the hallway? Why should rules differ because one is in a classroom setting while the other is on an athletic field? Rules are in place to handle these situations and shouldn't be ignored based on who the child/victim was or who the aggressor was. As I stated above, two wrongs never make a right!!! I'm not going to advocate on a meaningless message board for someone losing his job . But if I were a member of that community, I would be questioning those elected to govern the public school system in Bristol pretty hard.
  17. The video I posted is full of 18, 19, and 20 year old boys. Not "grown men". Has Gobble had a history of doing things like that with players that aren't his son? Him grabbing his son by his jersey and getting into his face for acting like a jackwagon isn't like the Woody Hayes incident, or the incident at Ridgeview last year. There was no violence whatsoever in the video of Gobble.

  19. Whataboutism has no place in this conversation. Two wrongs never make a right. And neither wrong should be ignored because one is slightly less egregious than the other.
  20. Good luck to all involved with wise program wish them the best, there are many good folks in the area. With the influx of talent they will have the next couple of years , it will be a good watch from a far!
  21. I know what you are trying to do with posting that. But lets not forget that Woody Hayes took himself out of the greatest football coaches ever conversations with one angry lapse in judgement. Your video showed grown men, what happened was with a child, regardless of who's child it is. Would you be ok with a coach doing that to your son? Society is allowed to grow and look back and see things were not handled the best in some cases, and it is not weak-minded or "woke" or anything. Discipline is needed in sports and in life; but coaches putting their hands on players should never happen. That situation should have never happened.
  22. I remember watching him play basketball in high school. He was a good player, athletic, and tough to guard with his left-hand game. The impression I got from him even back then was arrogance and attitude. Doubt he's changed much given his baseball success after high school. With that being said, I am somewhat torn on this situation. I feel like I was a tough parent with my kids concerning how they acted and represented themselves regardless of the situation. My philosophy was always "win well, lose well". I believe in respecting your teammates and your opponents. I was not at this game but by reading all the comments it is my understanding that his youngest son was throwing a tantrum after getting out by throwing his helmet and cursing towards the opposing team. When it is just one of your players, you reprimand them, set a severe punishment, and address the team that attitude/reaction such as that will not be tolerated. When it is also your son, the parent side of you tends to react a little harsher. From the video, I see him grab the jersey, confront his kid harshly, and shove him by the shoulder toward the handshake line. I do not see any strike to the face and some mentioned. Anyone who says that you shouldn't hold your child to a higher standard than the rest of the team has probably not been a parent/coach at the same time. It's a very tough thing to do. It's human nature to react different to things your children do as oppose to things other children do. I do believe that it should be handled outside of the public/camera eye and away from the teammates simply because of the embarrassment factor. I also believe that this situation cannot be fully judged by watching a video online. One would need to have been present to witness everything leading up to that situation to truly get a feel for what happened.
  23. Yes, yes and no A prick is a prick. As for myself, I’m a real asshole so I feel completely secure with my opinion of him.
  24. Feel like we had a similar conversation about this last year when gobble said he felt that they were the better team when they got beat by abingdon. There are two types of baseball people in swva, the ones who are complete total suck ups and treat him like he’s the best thing since sliced bread. Then there’s the ones who have seen his bs for years, if you have a kid that’s around the same age as his kids and you’ve spent numerous weekends at Domtar then I’m sure you’ll have plenty of reasons to not like jimmy gobble
