Now, with that said, you vote does not count. This board covers the schools in the map at the top of the page...period. Don't like it??? Slide on over to VAPreps and get your kicks...I can make it happen...

  2. I think the SEC network should start covering Virginia Tech, West Virginia and UVA. It's only fair. While we are at it. Nickelodeon should air NFL games. Burger King should serve Big Mac's. Coke should make Pepsi. CMT should air rap music. $5 bills should be worth $1000. Winter should be summer. NFL Network should cover European soccer.

  3. Salem gets all the recognition they could ever want and more on the 4A Virginia Preps forum. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ these are the teams we choose from here. It’s honestly that simple, guys. If anyone wants to leave Bluefield out, then that’s dumb, but it’s your right to do so. But you don’t have the right to try to change the parameters of a website that is privately owned and has been ran the same way for close to two decades.

  4. Ok, since the mods graciously allowed me to run the Top 10 List over the course of this season, I'm gonna put an end to this argument. As @Ryan4VT stated on the podcast last week, it's very time consuming to tally everyone's votes, as it is, without having to go thru everyone's opinions on who should or should not be considered, or having to wade thru a pissing contest between posters. @UVAObserver you are absolutely correct, that anyone who doesn't include Bluefield in their poll, is either biased or doesn't know what they are doing. @PV2VT you are absolutely correct as well. Salem is as good as it gets in this area, but the site creators have decided that they are not in our coverage area. That is not going to change. You don't have to like it, but that's just the way it is. They will not be included in the final results of our poll. @24282 has every right to include or exclude anyone in our coverage area in his poll. I also think it's crazy to leave Bluefield out, but Harambe received multiple write-in votes in our last presidential election. As stupid as that was, it was their right. @UVAObserver & @TwhscoachT I've respected a lot of the material both of you guys have added to this site in my couple of years here. I understand that you guys don't get along, but I would appreciate it if you guys wouldn't clutter up these particular thread with your beef. Thanks to everyone who votes. Let's try to do our best in keeping these weekly threads to voting only. You can add a brief description as to why you feel the way you do on your own post, but it's much appreciated by me, if these threads don't have more argument posts than actual voting posts. We may not all get along, but we all do love football and we love our team and players that we pull for. This thread needs to focus on that......Thanks!

  5. (1) Bluefield (2) Bluefield (3) Union (4) Graham (5) Ridgeview (6) Pulaski (7) Richlands (8) Abingdon (9) Chilhowie (10) Galax And if any dingus or troll fails to rank Bluefield, I will edit this poll and insert “Bluefield” in the highest available slot to cancel out the sheer stupidity of failing to rank them.

This is a map of Virginia that is divided up by regions. The map was taken from the Virginia Department of Education's website and can be found here...http://www.doe.virginia.gov/support/nutrition/resources/region_specialists.shtml#r6 We are Region 7. That region is called the Southwest Region. Notice how Roanoke is in Region 6. That is called the Western Region. This is how the Commonwealth of Virginia divides up the state, and since they recognize that SWVA starts/stops at Roanoke, I will too. Also, please notice how the area shaded in pink looks very, very similar to the map at the top of this forum(minus the WV counties). It doesn't matter to me if someone puts/leaves out Bluefield, Union, Thomas Walker, or whoever in their top 10. That is most definitely an opinion, but to argue that Roanoke is in SWVA defies logic and reason. That is all I have for today's geography lesson and apologies to @Bearcat Dad for having an argument in the middle of your Top Ten party.

  7. No apologies needed. This site is one of my favorite sites on all of the interweb, but I've done the same thing on here before. I've had my beefs with a couple of posters in my time here, as well, and have also apologized to the mods for hijacking a thread. We're all passionate about our teams, and most of us are guilty for letting our emotions get the best of us. Thank you for the offer, but I'm one of those really lucky guys who is married to an awesome woman that loves football. She helps me every week in not only counting the votes, but also on my articles that I write for CoalfieldSports.com.

  8. ...and I thought the back and forth on Facebook and Twitter between Union and Richlands over the band/football incident was mesmerizing.

  9. Region C , Wythe, PM, Covington and Narrows the only ones to challenge Galax. In D, Chilhowie and unless someone surprises, that’s it. Usually after 4-5 games you can tell more.

I love the effort sir. However, as a member of this forum for almost the entire length of it's existence, I have learned one thing. That lesson is that some posters on here will make like a politician and repeat their same viewpoint over and over and over again no matter how many times it's disproved or disagreed with until a moderator finally has to say... There is a map and it you don't like it, it's your problem. Like VA Preps being almost worthless for discussion and coverage of SWVA, there will always be a set of people who disagree with what is considered this site's coverage area. Keep fighting the good fight though. We support anyone that uses logic.

  13. At this point I'm not sure how much improvement we'll see on Graham's line play. A lot of their problem needs to be corrected in the weight room during the off season. We may have to get some of that chocolate milk Dixon is using. Defensively I think Rex Bradshaw has done a pretty darn good job overall. It's kinda hard for the LBs to make plays with the D-line sitting in their laps. I think in order for Graham to ever take that next step in the playoffs they are gonna have to be more disciplined. My peewee coach would go into orbit if a kid walked onto the field putting his helmet on. Attention to detail will prevent a lot of mistakes over the course of the season. Hopefully we'll get to see a good injury free ballgame Friday night. I think Graham will win.

  16. You usually have to have some sort of leverage to use the “don’t poke the bear” line. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but it doesn’t have the same force and effect as the original. The 2nd largest shame is that people can’t abide by the instruction of “pick 10 of these X number of teams” as your Top 10. The largest shame is that people jump in to defend it despite being entirely in the wrong.

  17. St Charles, whoooo, ruff country,as a visitor one should get out before dark, kinda like wrong turn WV. To say rules are rules ....well I personally think Greenville Tn is 2 or 3 steps above all the teams here but again not in the coverage area, with 4 div. 1 commits

  18. I don't think anyone is going to argue about how good Salem or their program is, but I don't think anyone would accept them as SWVA. I don't believe Roanoke would want to be considered SWVA either. Would probably be an insult.

    V-T Game #102

Outside of the first 15 minutes of game time in Week 1, you are very right. In less than 1 1/2 quarters, the Bearcats built up a 30-7 lead, and looked completely dominant in doing so. Since then, outside of one or two players, VHS has been playing very flat. The passing game has not found it's rhythm. 14-35, 250 yds, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs is not where they expected to be thru 2 games. It's not all on our QB. In two games, we have dropped 4 for sure touchdowns on drives that ended with a punt. The defense has been fine, outside of about 8-10 minutes of game time between the 2nd & 3rd quarters in Tazewell, but Tazewell will score a lot by season's end. The running game has done pretty well. The starting RB has 28 carries for 333 yards and 4 TDs in the first 2 games. He also ran at 7 ypc against Union, but only 4 carries, because the coaches are desperately trying to find some depth at that position Overall, I agree with you. The Bearcats are definitely underwhelming as a team, so far. If they get their passing game on track, that will help, for sure. They have 5 consecutive weeks ahead of them(4 opponents and the bye week) before they play their next district game, at home against the G-Men. If they don't have their passing game straightened out by then, they will already be an afterthought! 🤣 In that time they play Tn. High, Wise, Chilhowie, and Abingdon. Thanks for the good wishes! Good luck to you guys as well!

  23. Pretty much this. Sad to see Giles in the shape they are in this season. Hoping they can cobble together 5 wins and avoid a losing season for the first time since 1987.

  24. VHS has not played up to expectations the first two weeks of the season. Perhaps the third week is the charm. Good luck, Bearcats!

  26. You passed by but not through...although you wouldn't have seen a lot, haha. Not too far after you pass by Stone Face rock you'll come around a sharp left hand curve and go through an intersection passing by a couple of gas stations (one closed now), the road to the right (Rt. 352) takes you to St. Charles....the road dead ends at a mine. They still have a clinic and an elementary school. The school actually gets some high marks most years. It used to remembered as a pretty rough place. There's not much people left there anymore to really have much going on...town council used to be one family..lol. I don't think it even meets anymore, which has sparked discussion among the county as to what to do. I remember marching in Christmas parades with the band...don't wear good uniforms on coal haul roads, even for a 5 minute walk, hahaha.
