  2. I kinda feel this way about it. I liken it to being brothers...........well, maybe stepbrothers........in that I can say things about you and we can beat up on each other, but we stand together when it comes to the rest of the state. I know that some on both sides may feel different, I will always pull for the Tazewell teams when we are out of it, and if there are no Tazewell Co. teams left then I will be pulling for region D teams. Besides that, I played ball with D.Palmer in high school and I'm still good friends with him so I wish him the best ! I will be a Graham fan this week and the next and hope they bring the championship back to Tazewell Co !

  3. Only the 2nd battle between these two in West Virginia but it seems to be an ongoing struggle in Canada. #KnowledgeIsPower

  5. Hats off to Graham and as promised in my post, we all are now pulling for the Gmen. I think Graham has a good chance to bring the hardware back to SWVA and I hope they stay injury free the rest of the way. Cam Alley is my grandson's first cousin. My grandson's live in Alaska and listen to all the games via internet and they love to rub papaw when the Blues loose, but I'm glad Cam is having a good season, and hope the Gmen go all the way. One Blues Fan that doesn't care to say the Gmen are the most talented team in SWVA this year and I believe they will win State. Go Gmen!!!

  6. Glad to know Coach Dixon can have his boys hang up their cleats and get out their tennis shoes for basketball. Yep just go ahead and pencil in Chillhowie to represent the West!

  7. Just hope Tommy Edwards doesn’t suplex any of our players. Circa 1991 (I think) You older Gmen fans might know what I’m talking about,

  10. Yes it will. A healthy Hough team will play them a lot closer than the 25-0 game in early November.

  12. RV rotated there line heavily last season and return most of those kids they will be just fine as far as starters go. Line Depth may be an issue next season but you just have to wait and see how things shake out

  13. Nah Mullins aint going anywhere I talked to him last week. We have Brickey back and some other nice targets for him to throw to. Only concern is our line. If Luke stays then he needs to find some linemen cause we certainly don't have any coming up. Need to find a D coordinator for sure. We will have Reynolds and Crabtree in the backfield which will be the new two headed monster in the Mountain 7 for a few years Abingdon will still be good next year but will be missing a lot of pieces, Just imagine if by some good fourtune, Owens resigns and Amburgy gets a chance to come home and coach. Union will be WAY down. Ridgeview like I said will struggle without a line I don't care if Walter Payton is in the backfield. So realistically I see Central no worse than 3rd next year and who knows maybe Mountain 7 champs year after depending on line play.

Any truth to this being lunacy?

  15. I'm skipping the Tech game to watch Radford/Graham. Hopefully Blacksburg does move it to 7 so that I can make both!

It has not always been that way in Washington County. I would go as far as to say four good coaches. That is very rare.

What is it like to know that it isn't "The Year"?

  18. who?

    Akers Out at GC?

It is either reed or houseright....the job is not appealing to anybody else who would be a good coach. Other outside candidates will be in same mold as Akers. You really need to be familiar with Scott county politics to fully understand the problems that come with that job.

    Akers Out at GC?

you have to know who the candidates are before you can logically discuss a replacement......whoever it is... that after another 1-9, 2-8 or 3-7 season no one will be happy with them either..

When you were watching the game was MAC actually guarding Clemons? I saw a guy post something on a Georgetown message board with his points broken down by who was guarding him. He scored 25 while Akinjo was on him. He scored 13 when Jagan was guarding him and 7 points in transition. None of his 45 points came while MAC was guarding him according to that poster. I didn't watch the game so I don't know. Looking at your posts, you insinuate that MAC was the primary defender and poking at the 6 points not being a good trade off to giving up 45 points.

The main defender on Clemons was Akinjo. I'm sure at times MAC guarded him but not most of the game. A lot of his points seemed late in the game when he was jacking up 3's and making them. If MAC was from Graham then the doubters would give him the time that's needed but since he's from GC they're already trying to say he can't hack it.

  24. I have seen East Rock NUMEROUS times this year (and last year and the year before...). They have one of the most complete high school teams I have seen in 2A in many years. Someone posted about watching them on FB and didn’t think much of them. I hope you get to see them up close. The early weakness was perceived to be the defense. But that has improved by leaps and bounds each game. But the defense is not equal to that offense! They have put up 40+ points in the first half 6 times! The most impressive win may have been the season opening 34-7 win over 4A Spotswood. They have seen plenty of speed this year. Central Woodstock is loaded with speed; notably Clanton — the state 100/200/400 champ— and the QB from Madison - sprint/track scholarship to George Mason— and Buffalo Gaps RB Rivenburg— offers from JMU, WM (I hear) Enough of that stuff. If, if, if it comes down to ER and Graham (which I hope it does) sounds like it will be an athletic showcase! I don’t think speed, or the exposure to each other’s wheels, will be the deciding factor. Neither will size ER is PLENTY big and athletic. ER is a fairly new school and has a limited post season history. That will be a Graham advantage...if the match up occurs.

Just like last season at GC, he could not do enough to satisfy some. He is starting on a D1 team, that should shut some up, but it hasn't.

  27. 83-10 in 2 games. 7 of those coming late on a running clock. I think the poster has an excellent point about Grahams defense Good luck to Graham moving forward. Great effort by Richlands making the most with what they had. Good luck with basketball to Richlands. Credit Graham and move on.

  28. Cam Allen killed the Blues...as long as he stays healthy Graham has a shot of winning it all...

  29. Hard to say much when you've lost by a combined total of 83-10. Richlands may have made it more respectable, but it's clear the better team won

  30. Congratulations to Richlands on a great season. I'm not aware of another team in recent memory that's played through as much adversity as these kids have faced. Great job by their coaching staff for keeping their heads in it for the long haul. Congratulations to Graham on a great game. For the coaching staff to keep these kids focused this week after the outcome of the first meeting is impressive. One week at a time. GO GRAHAM!!

  32. Congratulations GMen! Not a blowout but definitely a decisive victory. Glad to see Tony Palmer get his first Regional Championship! Guess Mance will have to come back one more season to get that 200th win.
