To the Chilhowie faithful: There are a few Marion fans hoping you lose, but I believe the majority are wanting to see you win it all. My group from Marion will return to Salem again this year to cheer on our Smyth County (and Tazewell County) neighbors. This group even includes current and former Marion players supporting both SWVA teams. Now, ignore the vocal minority and go take care of some unfinished business.

Congrats to Jeremy! Unless I misunderstood, Reed is to be the DC? Someone correct me on that if I'm wrong. Not sure about the rest of the staff. I think GC fans will be more patient in getting things turned around with Jeremy being the Coach. Its gonna take quite a few years IMO to get the program headed in the right direction, but there should be a noticable difference in a year or so. Not necessarily in just wins and losses, but fundamentals and also in the attitudes of the players. The kids will enjoy playing for Housey and he truly cares about the kids. It will be noticeable. There wont be a lack of enthusiasm from him that can be assured. I'm sure the folks at Rye Cove seen the same thing from him while he was there.

I just want to join the long line of folks here wishing the Graham G-Men the best this weekend. I have nothing but respect for your program, you are royalty in Southwest Virginia Football and your team and your fans deserve a championship, I hope that you can play your brand of football and dominate like you have for the past few week! Good Luck and bring home that trophy where it belongs: To Southwest Virginia!

A few years back when the G-Men left Gate City after the 70-0 loss, I remember posting that Graham football would come back. They have certainly accomplished this. May the team come away Saturday with the championship trophy. It is a time these young men will always remember. Other things may dim in life, but not the memory of playing for a state championship. Gosh, this thread has encompassed the actions of fans on social media, politicians moving the Chilhowie/Galax game, concession stands, sinkholes. Not mentioned is Haley's Comet and the effect the upcoming game has on the stock market. Filtering through all of this, I have been listening to Chilhowie's playoff games and have become a fan of the team. I am pulling for them to bring home the championship trophy Saturday. I have watched my Blues (Richlands) in their championship games and there is nothing like it, the joy of winning and yes, the heartbreak of defeat. The work put in to get to this culmination of their season, is no small task. Hats off to the Chilhowie Warriors and coaching staff. I HOPE THE FEED FOR 101.1FM IS WORKING SATURDAY. We've already recorded, but to answer that, there are some stories that get posted to our website from corporate that we don't actually put on there. I believe the Baby, It's Cold Outside article was one of those. Either way, we haven't actually "caved" to it, since we don't play songs. It's just a story about one station that has chosen to quit playing it.

I'll represent the minority then if Marion played for a title I about guarantee you wouldn't see many Chilhowie fans pulling for the Canes and I don't blame them. It's not personal I just can't pull for a rival and if Chilhowie wins it Kudos to them

Like Larry said, everyone was very positive on social media last night, including current and former players. I wouldn't be surprised if our numbers don't jump up quite a bit next year. If the kids stay this excited and will run through a wall for him like it appears, then good things should be ahead in the future. Wasn't long ago GC beat Graham 70-0. This week I'll be pulling for them in the state championship game. Hopefully the kids will buy in and stay positive.

From what I’ve seen from the community on social media, folks are extremely happy. As so am I. Housey will give his all for his players and the players will give their all for him. It’s a long road ahead, we all understand that. But we got a fired up, enthusiastic, players coach. That’s what we need right now. The kids trust in Jeremy, he trusts them, the kids love him, as he loves them, he respects the kids, they respect him. That itself will go miles in the rise of the program back to former glory. We must support and be patient. Go Big Blue! Is it August yet?

It will most likely be safe to play the championship on Saturday, even if the possibility holds up. Right now Sunday seems like the danger day, assuming it all holds up. Models are beginning to agree on the possibility. They’ll be more sure in a couple of days.

Congrats to the Gate on the hire. The Houserights are all tough dudes and know football. I loves the old Graham and Gate City matchups. I hope Gate City is good again in the future. You guys used to have some hellacious and rough football teams. Best wishes GC

Ehhh, I disagree. It's more like 6-7 seasons but it won't take that long to see some major improvement so it won't be n issue.
