Ill say this. I know of a transfer that the parents did move after they decided to move to another town so their son could play for that team. The kid still lived in the old house on his own and drove down to the new school. Just goes to show there is no follow up and I still call BS on the transfers that are glory seekers! Be true to the place you grew up and spent 10 or 11 years at and you are supposed to be part of a team!

if I was the family of kids there that grew up there and worked hard to get into a position to play there and dreamed of running out on that field as a high school player then out of the blue they bring someone else in to play said position over home grown talent they yes the parents should be upset. win or lose with what you have in your community that's what high school football is all about. would rather lose with home grown talent than ostracize my community for short term gains. that's just me

Agree with your post, nobody knows the circumstances or situation for any kid that transfers, period. The fact of the matter , as adults none of us should be bad mouthing or throwing shade any kids' direction because he transferred. If coaches go out and actively or illegally recruit. They're adults, fair game. I've found the best recruits are other players though.

They have the support no doubt my main point is that in their region and the fact the Coach Robinson keeps getting kids to come out and work their tails off they will continue to play into thanksgiving just like the programs I have mentioned will they be able to win it all I don’t know because Riverheads isn’t going anywhere either

Yes, it is enough to affect the outcome. Following the ball in a one-wing offense is a difficult thing to do and Giles "hides" it better than anyone. The only thing to do is tackle everyone before they get out of the backfield.

Grundy is down this season but generally they are a solid 1A team and honestly scrimmages are glorified practices. so not sure that even matters.

Paintsville is good year in and year out it should be a great game for UNION

He beat Richlands on the road and came close to beating Abingdon. I don't care if Gate City wins another game, Houseright should be coach of the year. Now if Wise Central were to shock Ridgeview or Union I would lean towards Owens but Houseright has done an excellent job.

I would never wish harm on any player no matter what school he played for or transferred to; shame on any adult that does or did in the past. I hate to see any kid injured. I feel terrible for the ones only two games in this season from some of our local teams that are out for the season.

They probably would have had VHSL not fed Riverheads the magic number to allow their school district to adjust boundaries to keep them A.

I just realized that I have 2 kids that went to 2 different schools and it had nothing to do with what the kid wanted and it had all to do with the adults involved and I need to just keep my mouth closed because I should be the last person to judge in this situation. Your post just made me think about my own sisituatuon. Sorry if it seemed personal, I didnt intend it that way.

district: Holston Chilhowie Northwood Rural Retreat non district opponents: Castlewood Eastside Hurley Lee John Battle Honaker no offense to either team but they got TS and RC off schedule and added two stronger teams. Not a cake walk schedule IMO: Battle and Lee both 2A, Castlewood and eastside both on the better half of the Cumberland district, honaker and Hurley are both solid and physical teams every year. Wins don’t dictate the challenge a team poses. Look at the rest of 1D team for team these schedules aren’t that different.

This in season transferring is a total joke and shouldn't be allowed...if indeed this kid transfers after starting season at Bluefield

Okay, I don’t usually comment on threads, as I like to watch the games I miss as they happen and keep up with everything. But I will say this; as a kid fresh out of GC, we did play for pride, tradition, the community and the love of the game. They preached it in the locker rooms, coaches and players alike. And let’s be real, as much as we took/take pride in the game and community, every single player in the locker room loved to hit hard, and get pretty gals and that’s just real. All the stuff that comes with football is great, but we didn’t stay as a team under those hard seasons just for hitting hard and women, we stayed together for each other and for Gate City and the love of the game.

I hate going over there. They want to watch football like it’s on TV and there kids are setting at the table doing homework. We like to make “a little bit” of noise.

I disagree while Chilhowie has a fine coach the bunch of talent that is playing has been playing ball together for years as had the groups before. And the coach has been able to keep them playing when they get to High School. Alot of people want to give the ball coach all the credit the bottom line is these boys would win with just about anybody coaching them at this point. Chilhowie has an excellent youth program and it has built this program to where it is.
