    Ridgeview @ Union

True that. Ridgeview is good....dam@ good. They lost to a Union team that's also dang good. Looking forward to the playoffs to see how these top4 in D shake out. All four are very close. Any of the four could do it and I wouldn't be surprised. If Richlands or Ridgeview were to win the Region, it's just not a surprise to me. Only my opinion though.

    Week 8 VHSL points

Something interesting about this game, it is still listed on the Kentucky scoreboard site. Pic below. So, I guess it will come down to how the VHSL views it. Not sure about all, but several of the school playing Bland chose NOT to take the forfeit out of fear it would have hurt their rating. If VHSL views it as a legitimate forfeit, then it will be counted as a win for Pikeville. Giving Ridgeview 2 pts if they win or 1 pt if they lose.

  13. you should get 10 bonus points for playing in ky and winning just because of the refs

  14. Gaming may not be the best choice but they have taken advantage of a flawed system. Playing Burton and Honaker should not garner the same base points as Graham and Richlands. It ain’t RVs fault but there’s a problem here.

  15. There were a couple doozy calls, headscratchers, but nothing out of the ordinary. Maybe 2-3 egregious calls/no-calls that a good crew fixes but it wasn't like a KY clown show or anything.
    1 point
  16. Sure but what’s your point? A 7 win Burton team counts as much as a 7 win Graham team. That’s the problem. I tip my hat to RV for gaming the system but this is a problem. Union hypothetically could be 9-1, M7 champs and have beaten RV/RLands/Graham and be seeded below RV.

    GW VS Galax!!!

Dixon changed the offense last year before the start of the season. If I remember correctly when he was interviewed about it he said that this offense allowed him to get the ball to more of the skilled positions players hands, instead of just one to two. It's a good way to distribute the ball more to his players. He also has had an athletic QB who can run the ball the past two years as to where he didn't have that before with the previous QB the prior 4 years. Haha, He still gets into those modes to where he likes to pound the ball.

Just wanted to say congratulations to Union on a great win and I am proud of the Wolfpack for not giving up and fighting back to make it a close game.

  22. You really cant assume 1-4 will win all the time. Just take a look at Richlands last year. They played grayson/Ridgeview and were the underdog in both. Also an earlier post asked why do you play harder competition during the regular season if you get the same points for playing down. The answer is simple. You play harder compitition so when the playoffs come you are battle tested and ready for the caliber of other playoff teams. Playing weaker teams during the regular season sets you up for a letdown in the playoffs. Just ask the above mentioned teams that Richlands beat in the playoffs last year.

    Officiating question

The crew did something similar on two separate occasions. The first, they walked the ball to the sideline for the measurement as described by the OP. The second, the "white hat" attempted to walk a straight line from the nose of the football to the chains before signaling a first down. As I said in the "Score Updates" thread Friday night, I don't bash officiating but this entire crew exhibiting nothing short of lazy behavior all night. Never seen anything like it before. It's one thing to put forth appropriate effort and make mistakes. It's something completely different to make mistakes while putting forth absolutely no effort.

    Tazewell V. Bluefield

Use this as a scrimmage and practice on different things. Try out the other QB and see what can make of it. Let Nunley be the RB and Mullins throw it. See what happens with that and make adjustments for the following weeks. I just hope that they don't get to discouraged having two tough games back to back.

    Ridgeview @ Union

So I'm just wondering how throwing you hands up and getting frustrated because you've been getting blown up in the backfield up like makes you a bad person or something???? If you asked someone that actually knew him they would probably tell you he is very humble and a great kid. Its football it happens every Friday night any where you go you will see someone showing frustration. What about how #44 for Union acts out there on the field at times???

  29. That's what I'm saying, I think some of the Union fans on here aren't giving their team enough credit. I guess some are Union fans and some are not, but Good Lord man, Union's defense is stout. It's pretty bad as# for a 2A Virginia Defense and getting 119 not just against Union, but with an offense in which is run oriented, and one in which Union knows is going to Run the Ball makes it even more impressive. I'm surprised he wasn't a bit hurt by the third quarter. That kid showed me some incredible toughness. He was getting popped not just by one player, but by multiple players, and again, on a nasty and vicious defense that brings the wood every play. I was more than impressed with Adkins. One last thing and let me be careful here because I want to make sure that "I let the coaches coach." In one fans take only, just an opinion, not trying to be the coach, just an observation, not a parent, not angry or anything like that, but just a thought........a few more screens if you are Ridgeview in the form of bubble screens, hitches? Especially with the crazy good WR they have that touches the ball about 5 times per 4 quarters? Just sayin........I wasn't impressed with Ridgeview's play selection, but with that written, if you are used to running, running, and running and don't throw many screens, it's hard to turn into a screen football offense in one night, so I get it. But from here on out, the Ridgeview staff surely has to know and understand that every team in the state of Virginia that knows anything about Ridgeview will be playing run and stacking 7 in the box, and more times than not, walking another 1 and sometimes, 2 more into the box when the ball is snapped. Brothers, you gotta insert some bubbles and hitches in your offense.

  31. I don't agree to that either. I respect your opinion. Polier is a beast and he's a better defensive player, but Adkins is a better offensive player by A LOT. That's right, by A LOT. Adkins is that good as a RB, period. He's major.....major D1 FBS caliber as a running back and he's recruited that way for a reason. He's legit. I also read where one poster stated Polier had a better night than Adkins at Running Back. I don't necessarily agree with that either. Put Polier on the Ridgeview side and see if he gets the yards Adkins did when 5 players are hitting him as soon as he touches the ball. What Adkins did against Union was incredible in my opinion. He almost won the game. He kept them in the game when they were outmatched. Polier has a far better supporting cast around him. When Adkins is starting on Saturdays in 2 or 3 years at an FBS school, we can revisit this thread. The kid is a freak at running back and he isn't bad on defense either. He's no Polier, but he isn't shabby by any means. The above is just one guys opinion, but I'm sold on Adkins. I had my doubts about the competition in the past. After seeing him against Union, I'm more than sold on him. He's the real deal and more at RB. Regarding his attitude? Please folks. Yes, the kid was frustrated as he was getting pummeled as soon as the ball was snapped and sure he was frustrated after having it easy for the early part of the season. Being frustrated doesn't equal a bad attitude. The kids wants to win and he's a competitor. He got frustrated. No big deal. By everything I heard from Ridgeview fans, he's a good kid.
