I’m really surprised it took three day to get off topic. The threads usually go sideways quicker than that πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚! What team doesn’t have hold backs these days? I guarantee most teams in SWD & M7 had some last year and will this year. Back to the thread topic: Best of luck to Coach Mance! Brilliant move if you ask me!

Loris is closer to the NC line than it is South Myrtle. This is a chance to retire in VA, go to a vacation destination type of job, not have to teach and get paid to coach while pulling from his VA stuff. Smart life move, IMO. I know I'd do it in a heartbeat. I only wish we had gotten the chance as a town and fanbase to come together and say thanks for all he's done for our little town.

  5. Hey, we, AFTER THE WHISTLE, are conducting a short survey on Buchanan Consolidation. It includes potential school names and a SWEET 16 Mascot challenge. After this week, we will issue the FINAL 8 Mascots and go from there, THIS IS NOT OFFICIAL, just for fun. Please help us out! SURVEY LINK

Stop the nonsense!!! Richlands has Sage Webb returning, a true speedster, just a junior next year, I think. Also,I don't remember the name, but the QB position is a player around 6'4...6'5. Every year players graduate and someone has to fill open positions. Adults leave work environments ALL the time for the betterment of their family and future retirement. Mance was approached about the position becoming available in SC. Anyone in this stage of their life who is being proactive about their future would certainly listen to any offer broached, especially if it's a move with more money and not a career change. Good luck Coach Mance in SC !!!

Don't necessarily need to be quick, just need to get it right. I'm sure Mance already has talked to some good replacements and passed that along. He's not just going to leave Richlands high and dry, cares to much for the Blues. Who ever is on the radar, I'm sure Mance can tell you all about them. Hate to see him go, but wish him and his family all the best, it's been one heck of a ride, and all the Blues fans will forever remember Coach Mance.

  10. That'll create a 3A school. If folks in region 3D thought that the travel distance to and from Abingdon was tedious...

I'd say you are right on that. I was still very surprised at last year's game with Graham at the attendance from Richlands. Just wasn't the same crowd you normally see at a Richlands game. First the sake of quality football in our area. I hope they take their time and make the right hire. As someone said earlier in the thread learn from Graham and Gate City. I wish Mance and his family all the best. Thank you for helping raise the level of football here in SW Va.

  12. Region C Boys 1. Auburn 2. George Wythe 3. Bland 4. Parry McClure 5. Narrows Auburn is the clear favorite but I can't count out PM. The Pioneer is such a week district, it's hard to tell how they will stack up against Auburn, GW and Bland. Girls 1. George Wythe / Galax 3. Rural Retreat 4. Covington 5. Eastern Montgomery GW and Galax are the only real choices here. Galax started the season 3-5 with two freshmen in the starting lineup and a first year head coach. They have gone 11-1 since with the only loss coming at Radford in a really tight game. This streak also includes an 11-point win over GW. Galax senior Shea Foxx is the schools all time leading scorer and will play next season at UVA-Wise. Her sister is a freshman who stands 6'-2" tall and can play all 5 positions on the floor with ease. She is shooting over 35% from the three point line! When she plays within herself, she is the best player on the floor every night. She is a legitimate D1 prospect and has already been on an unofficial visit to Old Dominion.
