1. It’s not a stretch to say that a kid who is 6’4 and can move has a higher ceiling...but obviously that struck a nerve. 2. Hayes showed last year he could be a star. From what I see, everything Wise runs is...not for him. That’s not to say that there’s anything wrong with that-he doesn’t need the ball in his hands to be an asset. However it’s unfair to blame him for “disappearing” when he was in foul trouble and they don’t run anything for him. 3. I would bet that most teams in SWVA would have traded rosters with Wise this year.

I guess basketball to you is just the players that score. You sir are obviously lost! What about the kids that fight for rebounds, play defense, get assist, come up with steals.....oh I forgot they must suck because they didn't score.......go on somewhere with your BS!!!! Central had some good play from many different players, Collie, Bishop, Brickey, and Bailey all made some plays during this game!! If you didn't notice, Vermillion was substituting for Offense and Defense possessions last night when their 2nd best scorer was in foul trouble! Mack,Starnes, and the George kids all played good minutes for Gate City in different situations. If some of those turnovers were not forced by these non talented kids, this ballgame could of been a blow out!! So before you get on here blasting kids, and teams saying they have no talent, realize basketball is so much more than scoring!!! Central was 7-15 from the free throw line and GC was 18-20 from the free throw line.......so all in all that was the determining factor in the game.

As Kevin Mays has noted on Twitter, it looks as if for the second consecutive year, if the Region C & D champs in classes 1 & 2 win their quarterfinals, then for the second straight year the Region D champ will have to travel to the C champ for the semifinal. That doesn't seem quite fair now does it?

They don’t cross until the championship so if both GC and Wise advance, GC would be the home team and likely play at VA High again. Same for the girls, Union would be home team and likely play at UVA-Wise.

Been hearing that Wells was offered the HC along with the AD which will enhance his resume for the college level. Also heard that he plans to stay in Richlands for at least five years before moving up to the college level. If all this is true (and really who knows) I wish him and his family the best. Also heard that he plans on keeping three of the Mance assistants and make changes to match his system. Everything we hear is speculation and cannot be counted on until the final decision is made, of course.

Foul trouble for Hensley and Haynes directly affected scoring, as both are potential 20+ pt contributors. Would’ve been fun to see those two more involved. Compton is also a proven scorer for GC, but looked very tentative for some reason.

I know I counted atleast 9 they missed in the 1st half. When Gate City was trying to run the clock out and Central got the steal with 15 seconds why didn't Central call a timeout to set something up.

Lee did beat Union twice this season I believe... Once in the finals of the Grand tournament and one of the two regular season meetings.

From what I hear the money will be matched but he will take on more rolls than he currently is. Now he Coachs and teaches a weight lifting class before school in North Carolina. At Richlands he will coach, AD, and teach a subject. Also heard there will be coaching staff changes. He request to make his own staff with only 3 current coach's staying. That's the word on the street at Richlands high.

Lee starting freshmen and sophs? I really don't know. I'd doubt they'll be beating Union anytime soon-enjoy these 2 wins (the series is still lopsided I'd wager)
