Backyard brawl! Tazewell Vs. Richlands
Gridiron60 reacted to Jags52 for a topic
In the past I would say that Richlands has a MAJOR coaching advantage over Tazewell when Mance was at the helm. Thad Wells is also a hell of a coach so I think the coaching advantage still goes to Richlands but not as much as before IMO. Mance always did a good job of taking away what you do best and making you beat them with your second option. They were not able to do that against Graham and Bradshaw. I do not believe Tazewell has anyone as talented as Bradshaw but they do have more threats. 1,2,3, and 4 are all really good football players and it is hard to key in on just one. Tazewell was all over the place as far as lining up defensively against Marion who runs normal spread sets. Richland's base offense is tackle over with a lot of motion and crazy formations. IF Richlands can take advantage of an Tazewell not lining up right I could be a long night for the dawgs. This is a toss up game I believe Tazewell is the more talented team but it will all boil down to if their athleticism can make up for their undisciplined play.1 point -

More rumor to the story...I had heard from somebody at work that Abingdon was being considered 2A this year but like everything else who knows what truth is1 point -

I heard it’s up to each region but even in our region, it seems there’s no consensus. I like the idea just let Abingdon count as 2A points for this year that was commented in earlier post.1 point -

If I was Tazewell, I would bring the house on Richlands QB and Keep Webb in Check. Tazewell has a real shot to break this streak!1 point -

This years Graham team is less athletic overall at the skill positions. The lineplay seems better. They are opening up good holes for the running back Fritz, who is a hard nosed type of back that has some athleticiam. The QB is more of a drop back QB, but he can run when needed. Just a different looking team. I think they cam score points offensively. The key will be the development of the LBs and defensive backs. Fritz and Z. Blevins are pretty good linebackers and that was a big concern xoming in for Graham. They are smaller than Kastner and Edwards, but both play the position well and pack a punch. DBs are the biggest question mark. But so far, so good. With T. Palmer at the helm and the coaching staff that he has assembled, they are young, but very capable of making a deep run.1 point -

I can't say that I blame Battle for not wanting to make up the games, but I do believe they should display good sportsmanship and forfeit since the outcome of the games would 90% likely result in a win for both Ridgeview and Central. If the outcomes could reasonably be disputed then a different conversation can be had.1 point -

Much younger. Four seniors with mostly sophomores and a few juniors seeing playing time. With that said they have some athletes and kids that play with a ton of heart. I'll say this. Tony has found a way to make those kids want to play and play hard. Graham has a "motivator" if you will by the name of Mike Horton aka Big Mike. After you listen to this guy for 30 seconds if you aren't ready to run through a brick wall you might as well go play tennis. He can get your blood flowing for sure.1 point -

Graham will win by as much as they want and I’m surprised a topic has been created about this game because it’s not even worth talking about honestly1 point
