  1. Unknown is right. Facts, statistics, previously stated policy, and/or logic have no place in the quarantine discussion. See Ridgeviews team wide quarantine with 1 player positive. Chances that he was within 6' of the entire team for a total of 15 minutes, basically 0.

  2. CDC policy is that quarantine may end at (1) 10 days without a test, or (2) at 7 days after receiving a confirmed negative test result. VDH has adopted the CDC policy for quarantine.

  5. yes top two of district but if it was a tie, then it should go to points. Name in the hat is ridiculous. One team is better than the other because of luck??? come on!!

Graham broke Gate City... In the 2014 playoffs, Gate City beat Graham 70-0. Since then, Gate City has been 15-44 since then...Graham has been 58-14 with a State Championship...

Is now 4-1 and looks to be in the playoffs at Fort Chiswell. GC is currently 0-5. Good for him after all the mess he took at GC. Maybe he was a better coach than people thought.

  8. All games called off should be considered forfeits...not just some while others are no contests

  9. At least now, there is more knowledge of what we're up against. There is more knowledge of how to deal with it and better manage situations where activities can happen. Still isn't going to completely alleviate the virus, still isn't going to please everyone which isn't possible anyway, or it's effects on people and activities. But we're obviously much better off and had much better luck with it in the spring here than WV did in the fall.

  10. Complete beatdown of the Spartans. There is a risk of catching covid and losing the rest of the season for Union, a lot to risk and very little to gain. I can fully support getting games in and giving the players the opportunity to play but Turner is rolling the dice a little imo. Maybe he figures they don't have a lot to lose if they don't get to participate in the playoffs...

  13. If 7 days (from Fri), Ridgeview could've played Union this Sat., which seems to have been off the table from the start. If 7 days (from Thur), Radford would've been able to play Carroll this weekend, which they ARE talking about. So I guess it IS a locality thing.

  14. I think a “no contest” is the correct call. Having 1 player contract COVID would ruin a team’s season, particularly if the forfeit is to a team that would rightly be favored.

So what you're saying is, the outsized amount of blame laid on Akers was not fair at all and expecting to fix all that ails GC by firing him was kinda crazy? I agree

  17. Makes perfect sense but we have already had that conversation on here lol So would they possibly delay the next Fri/Sat game until that Monday and have to play again either Fri/Sat?

  18. Technically CDC has also said only 7 days needed so who knows what is followed.

The number of losing seasons under Harry Fry and Nick Colobro in 55 years? 6 The number of losing seasons under Bill Houseright, Chris Akers, and Jeremy Houseright in 12 years? Also 6

  25. In a normal year, all games would count. This isn't a normal year. If all 3 teams are tied, they will have the same points. What then? The VHSL has a solution. It is as follows: (a) The Rating Scale-Considering all regular season games played against public and non-public Virginia schools and scheduled in accordance with the provisions of 68-4-6. All regular season games weren't played, but what were would result in a tie in points - go to (b) (b) The winner of any games between the two tied teams if only the tied teams are involved. If more than two teams tied, and one of the tied teams beat all other tied teams, that team shall advance. Didn't happen, go to (c) (c) The team with the better record against all common opponents. All have the same common opponents and record, go to (d) (d) A team that played an opponent with an effective nine (9) game schedule (non-recognized opponent, i.e., home school or out-of-state non-public school, or inability to schedule/play a 10th game) shall be seeded ahead of a school whose opponents play 10 game schedules. Doesn't apply, go to (e) (e) Schools that played an opponent with nine-game schedules shall be seeded ahead of opponents who played 10-game schedules. Doesn't apply, go to (f) (f) The team with the highest winning percentage against rating scale recognized opponents. All would have the same winning percentage, go to (g) (g) The team with the higher average rating of all of each team's opponents. Same opponents, same rating, go to (h) (h) The team with the higher average rating of all of each team's VHSL public and VHSL non-public school opponents Once again, same opponents, same rating, go to (i) (i) The regional chairman, or his/her alternate if his/her school is involved, shall draw by lot to determine the playoff representative. (j) The group chairman or vice chairman if the chairman's school is involved, shall draw by lot to determine the playoff representative. Should both the group chair and vice chair be involved in the tie the group secretary would oversee the process. Interesting, the VHSL would use the exact same method to determine the winner, in a normal year, if all the above criteria were met, as the SWD will be using to determine the winner of a 3 way tie. One could argue that the OOD game should be counted, BUT, once again, this isn't a normal year. Every team didn't have the same equitable chance of choosing an OOD opponent. That's why it doesn't count. Like it or not, it is what it is. The M7 is essentially using the same method in choosing the #2 seed. Only difference is Covid drew the straws, instead of a person, and, unfortunately for them, Ridgeview got the short one. Could have been anyone. Union got lucky.

    Richlands vs Graham

Fact...Richlands is much better now than in Week 1. Graham, maybe not. If you think this game will end up a 20 point margin like game 1, you're nucking futz. This game will be as close as the Tazewell game was and either team could win...or lose...
