  1. What's amazing is we can all watch the same game film and come away with differing opinions of plays, performances, etc. Its no wonder eye witness accounts of crimes are often inaccurate. Lol

  3. I guess a win over Bluefield really gave them a big head. I’m sure had it been the last 10 years they wouldn’t care to play a small school 😂

  4. Yep! Maybe 2 is too few, 4 is too many, and 3 is too hard because of the bye that would be needed. In reality, top 4 ensures that the #1 seeds get a "tune-up" game for the 1st round while the 2 and 3 seeds battle their hearts out. I'd rather include a "bad" team than leave out a good one.

  5. Would be Great if there was a Giles/Narrows rematch in the playoffs the first year Giles dropped to 1A!!

  6. And 90 percent of the time, the observations are slanted in their team's favor.

  7. We're playing GC the first half and Graham the 2nd half tomorrow night. Haha

  8. Coach Palmer just informed me that Princeton dropped Graham and he said Graham would play Princeton anytime. Sorry for the error.

  9. Now, that statement is just obnoxious; nevertheless, I love where you're going with it.....winks. The Tigers are roaring this year. The Tigers have plans to slappity-slap-slap any opponent attempting to de-manhood us predators. We are semifinal bound this year largely attributable to our delightful air-raid attack and fanciful Head coach.

  10. For anyone going to this game, I saw where they will be taking up donations for the Hurley community at the entry gates.

  11. That’s just it! At this point if you want to play, take what you can get. No team really has luxury in this crap shoot to be too picky. I don’t care who Graham plays, I just hope they get a game and aren’t as picky as Princeton.

  12. That would also allow Bluefield and Princeton to play a 2nd time on 10-8. Who knows? The problem is Bluefield has had so few practices.

  13. Well they are too small but in these times you just gotta play who you can IMO.

  14. I will agree with that plus the fact that sometimes a bad team really isn't bad and gets it worked out by then and can make a real run.

  15. Ive said it before and ill say it again, the way to do this is go back to the West/East setup but take 8 from each instead of 16. Ive yet to see a case where the top 8 allows anyone truly "undeserving" in or leave a "deserving" team out. And I liked the +1 setup so keep that. This season your playoff teams would end up with the West looking something like: Appomattox, Glenvar, Floyd, Radford, Graham, Union, Central, and Ridgeview. I love having a Regional Champion but the above setup makes for some really good football in every round.

  16. Rough for an O line guy or a defensive guy to get an award like that (not saying that some don't deserve it). It will ALWAYS be an offensive and skill player award. Kind of like the Heisman, you can't tell me the best player in college football is always (for the most part) a receiver or QB.

    Gate City vs. Union

Im all for giving a a big guy that kind of love. Thats what I played in backed in the day and I agree the game is won or lost in the trenches most of the time. However 1 guy doesnt make a great O line you have to have 5 dude that work together on every single play. I think Stevie does more with less than anyone in in the region. Hell that kid gets touched in the back field and still is capable of scoring every time he touches the ball. An O lineman will never get POY mostly because you have to look at a unit as a whole

  18. "Meadows" is singular. "Line" may be considered plural. Because Union had success against Graham on the line doesn't mean Union had success against each individual Graham lineman. Huge difference. Meadows manhandled anyone in front of him from Union. Meadows is also, even over Bradshaw in my opinion, a sure bet for the NFL, and he's been considered that way since 8th grade (Injury can derail things of course). He's the highest rated recruit in SWVA by a lot, and that includes Bradshaw.

  19. Don’t think they tried. Sounds like they wanted to take the week off and just get a week of practice on fundamentals and early gameplan for Ridgeview. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I thought they’d want to get a road test in. Both road games this season have been either postponed or canceled. And the Ridgeview game is home. So the first time we leave Ernie Hicks will be going to Tazewell in 2 weeks.

  20. The Bulldogs are very young and play several freshmen and sophomores. It could be a long day for them. They will play hard and play until the end, however.

IMO Stevie is should be the POY in region D that kid has done more for the VA high program in the last 4 years than any kid I have seen. Now that he has some help with a passing game he is even more lethal. He might be the hardest kid to tackle in the region because he is so hard to get a clean hit on him.

  24. According to SWVA Sports Report Stevie Thomas is averaging 186.6 ypg and Lomax is at 152.5. Good numbers.
