  1. I can kinda see why the Narrows folks are hesitant to consolidate😂

  2. You are ALWAYS going to have that small crowd that will constantly blame coaching. They are in every town. They are on every message board. From Giles, I present the two tokens....Stranger danger (who's time here is limited) and 1wingit23. We've seen a couple from Appalachia/Big Stone wanting Turner fired. The world is full of tokens. It's scary though...we let em drive and vote. Thank God we don't let em become nuclear power plant operators.

  3. What's more plausible is not 'what's possible", but what is Obvious and clearly in front of your eyeballs. Our talent level is nowhere close to what it once was, and home fans and away and neutral fans have been commenting on it on this board for years.

  4. Talent is down and it goes thru cycles...we've been very lucky over the years...if your talent is down this is going to happen...just accept it

  5. All I here from you two lugnuts are emotion. You give ZERO reasons as to how the numbers you give ARE what they ARE, or the WHY behind the numbers. That's the part that you two don't seem to get through those thick emotional skulls. I can assure you, if Giles were go 10-0 next year, Williams would be the greatest Coach in the world again and he would all of a sudden in your minds, "be refocused for 2023." You two basically don't know what you are talking about and everytime you post, you make arses of yourselves. 99% of reasonable people on this board over the years know and understand (and have stated it) that Giles has a talent problem compared to where we were. It's absolutely noticeable. You can only coach a 180 lb left guard so much. You can only coach a 135 pound running back and safety so much. That guard or safety could be incredible also, but when he goes against the 230 lb Galax defensive tackle, he's not going to win, or when the 140lb safety goes to tackle the 200 lb plus Galax running back, he will get that tackle some, but sooner or later by the 2nd half, he's not. Our line has been noticeably SMALL the past 6 or so years. I know it's a stretch for you two, because you would actually have to THINK back 10 years, (not easy for many in 2022 because EMOTION trumps any rational thought) but if you are able to do it, compare the differences in size from those teams and now. Forget about looking at the starters, just look at the team photos. I know this hurts because if you can "feel"<-----your driving force that Giles has a coaching problem, then that's a "simple one person problem" and it sets better with you emotionally. If Giles has a talent problem, then that's a whole other ballgame. You know that it's not a one person fix and that it's a deeper and more complicated thing to fix, and that bothers you because you aren't in as much control emotionally anymore. Richlands has gone through the same thing the past 5 or so years and their fans are now realizing it. They are even finally admitting on this board that the talent simply is not what it once was. These talent cycles happen. It's a real thing whether you want to admit it or not (and you don't.) You are giving concrete numbers (which are good numbers) but you aren't giving the accurate meaning as to the WHY those numbers are that way.

  6. It's weird that presenting a talent cycle or talent up or down scenario is some "foreign" concept to you. That's equally comical. You don't even acknowledge talent levels. It's completely off the table to you. You don't acknowledge numbers/student population. Ragsdale had way more to choose from and he had no social media interference or cell phones for most of his career, and once a program was rolling, keeping it that way was easier than today. You are giving valid numbers without giving valid rationale as to why those numbers are what they are. Williams has done well, especially early on. You do NOT go from being a great coach to a poor coach. In your emotional mind, you may feel different, but by in large, it doesn't work that way. I think you are a little concrete, and never fully reached formal operations with reasoning. Add in the 2022 emotional based par-for-the-course argumentative style, and it tells me you don't know Shit from Shinola

  7. We have a talent drop/talent cycle down this is the culprit. It's Obvious guys. It's Obvious. If you've watched Giles football for decades, you can see with your eyes and know when we have talent/talent cycle up and talent down, or talent medium (which is where we are now). We will be back. Our coaching is solid in my opinion. Future looks good at Giles.

  9. I just watched this one today. Props to GC. Again, props to GC who is getting better and rapidly improving, but.......I ain't picking them to beat Union if they meet again come playoff time. Gate City scored 3 times on 3 weird long plays. I didn't see Gate City driving up and down the field effectively. I know...big plays ARE part of the game and they count, but this wasn't like a superior freak athlete exploded. The first one was a great catch in the corner of the endzone on a well covered receiver and it was more of a desperate type pass for GC and it somehow worked. Another was a misjudgement by the DB for Union who overplayed the route and when he missed the tackle, nobody was there. It was just weird. The other one was a great athletic play where the GC kid made people miss, but it was also poor tackling by Union. Again, credit GC who got the W and those 3 big plays decided the game and they do count, but at least 2 of them were borderline bad luck for Union in my opinion. Again, credit GC, but I don't think they are within 10 points of Union if they meet in the playoffs. Only my opinion though. It was just weird how GC scored. I don't think they replicate that again if they play Union in the playoffs

  11. Your argument. Giles talent level is the same as 10 years ago and the problem is the coaches. The coach was once solid,, but now is not good. That makes you.........not smart. Everything that has followed has been meaningless babble and you sir, are soon to get the hammer.

  20. I just watched Galax vs Graham on NFHS and Union vs Gate City. The Graham QB had some dang on dimes dropped with a couple of those deep balls. Great throws. As for the Maroon Tide, how about that stud they have toting the rock? Kid is a beast and absolute workhouse. We couldn't tackle him in the second half here in Pearisburg. I don't know if he was in good shape back then or if Galax is also confident in its other RB who is also tough, but the big youngin would bust us up for 15 yds, then he would go out for a play or two, then they bring him back in on 3rd and 5, and he would bust another one for 10 or 15.

    Galax vs Graham

I agree with this statement. GW could walk away with the win if Graham is penalty ridden or makes careless mistakes. GW is tough! GMen better be on their A game.

  22. I think GW surprises a few people with how well they match up with the GMen. Graham is the better team, but it wouldn't take too many mistakes for GW to come out on top.

    Tazewell @ Grundy

He didn't say they would win the region. Thats the only post that I recall anyone saying that Tazewell would win district and/or region. If someone mentioned it in preseason I don't recall it. Technically @GMan isn't a Tazewell guy either that I know of.

    Tazewell @ Grundy

Actually, this isn’t true at all. Go back and read the thread. Most Tazewell posters said they were hopeful they could keep it close but the only person that actually claimed a win for Tazewell was @GMan https://www.swvasports.com/ipb/index.php?/topic/46023-graham-vs-tazewell/

  27. We've had some at Radford for years. We had people wanting Coach Lineberg gone and you could never please em. Even at the booster meetings, always an argument or complaint. Long on problems and short on solutions.

  28. I also trust @Union_Fan when he tallies up the points as well. I used to do it a few years ago when I had much more time than I do now, or I'd do it.

All cycles renew next year. This is the second year of the Lebanon/GC contract. GC played at Lebanon last year.

  31. Wrong Cliff. Haven't lost anything. 23 man posts stats, numbers, facts and history, but you say he only posts off emotions. Appears to me you are the one posting on emotion. Explain this one thing, and try to do it with no word salad, and less than 500 words. Why, under Ragsdale, was there never a 3,4,5 year low talent cycle? Playing in bigger divisions, bigger better districts, far tougher schedules? I'm sure this will be good.

  35. Dogs! Tazewell will win and score with with big plays. Tazewell rush defense is pretty darn good. Grundy "no likey" the pass and "no likey" a guy with great speed taking a direct snap and running to the edge.

    SWVA Week 6 Poll

As much as I hated to, I put Princeton #1 overall Graham after they nearly upset LB. I may not put them there next week but I felt they were deserving after that game, lol. I also put Grayson on my list.

  38. I put Grayson in my rankings last week. They're pretty underrated in my opinion.

Wonder if Grayson County gets in? They still haven't lost yet. Don't think they'll lose until they get to GW and Galax towards the end of their schedule.

    Tazewell @ Grundy

Dogs have a good shot at this one with their stout run defense and being able to pass. Just have to play smart and with intensity. We are not delusional, we see what is there and is what is the possibility. We should make the playoffs barring crazy things happening. Depending on the matchup will determine a week 2 appearance. At least we knew where we stood with Graham. Bears were so torn up over their game with Graham that they forgot to play against GC and lost one that they probably should have won. So by logic I've seen mentioned before dictates that GC should be able to beat Graham 🤣

  45. If gate city played Richlands again, they’d blow there doors off. That was a game with first game mistakes and Richlands just come out with less. Gate city will win this with ease. (They should anyways) lol. As everyone said. It’s hard to predict Gate city.
