Confidence or lack of it is the reason Radford and Glenvar keep losing to Appo. Well, it's One of the big reasons. Appo is in their heads and these teams internally have self doubt about their ability to beat em. Graham on the other hand in my opinion just doesn't know better. They come into any game thinking they are going to win. That's the problem for Appo Saturday. They are truly going to have to be better than Graham to win, because unlike Radford or Glenvar, Graham isn't coming to "compete". They are thinking 2 to 3 touchdown win, and that's rare for an Appo opponent to have that mentality. Appo isn't use to that.

Appomattox has won 5 of the last 7 State titles in Virginia 2A. One of the main reasons, is coaching and a hard nosed team that plays with purpose. Graham needs to keep thinking how it felt last year to lose in that title game and keep focused on the task ahead and it is a monumental task to take down Appomattox at this stage of the playoffs. As witnessed last week, Appomattox will come at you with everything they've got and with confidence. Graham needs to play hard and play smart. Limit the bone headed penalties, unsportsmanlike and personal fouls will get you beat against a team like Appomattox. Appomattox will show up to Mitchell Stadium, expecting to win the game. Graham needs to play their best football on Saturday.

@oldfool is Appo coming down on Friday again and spending the night? I always wondered if 2019 outcome would have been different if Graham had spent the night rather than make that long trip the day of the game. They seemed to come out really flat that day. Traveling day of or spending the night may not have any bearing whatsoever though.

I think special teams will be a huge factor in this game. Last season Appo made the mistake by kicking to the most elusive athlete on the field twice and both times were returned for TDs. Against Glenvar last week special teams almost cost them again when they punted it directly to the fastest kid on Glenvar’s team who ran it back for a TD with under a minute left. They were lucky a penalty negated it or Glenvar would be playing Graham this Saturday. Doug Smith and his staff are fantastic but by trying to prove they aren’t afraid to kick/punt it to these dangerous returners has been costly.

Radford was very explosive, but sooner or later you have to play defense. Kids today don't want to do that because all the newspapers and highlights are of touchdowns. Even the max preps and va preps only show value for it honestly.

I think special teams will be big also. Word I got from 2 Appo fans after game is that they practiced kicking deep and opposite of Bradshaw all week and the kicker was nailing it, then the game happened and the ball just went in the other direction to Bradshaw. They swore that was the case and not intentional to kick to him. Graham's kick returns for TDs. We can't assume that Appo holds Graham on the possessions where Bradshaw ran it back for a TD. Graham gashed Appo on the ground. Odds are, Graham simply moves down the field and scores and takes 5 minutes off the clock versus Appo getting a punt from Graham.

I dont think Radford had self doubt. i think they have an idiot coach that cant win a game where he doesnt have far superior talent.

I'm scheduled to officiate a track meeet at LU this weekend so I'll have to tune in on Social media. Is there a station doing a radio broadcast?

Heritage - Christiansburg at noon and Glass - Kettle Run at 5 pm. Both games at City Stadium.

I will be there along the top of the 50 yard line. Bo bob has to officiate a track meet at LU unless something changes for him.

Appo will be out for revenge from last season too. Graham will have to play their A + game on Saturday. Going to be a dog fight.

Just my opinion, Graham could have some great success against Poquoson or Central if Graham wins as those teams are not as fast. Central is monstrous in size and strength. They are Graham on steroids on the line of scrimmage without the athletic talent and speed of Graham. Poquoson is all technique. But, Appomattox brings very good speed in open space and getting the edge will not be nearly as easy as it was against Ridgeview. Graham may have some success with the Wildcat against Appo, but Doug Smith is very, very good, and it's going to take other forms of offense (a combination) to beat Appo (of which Graham has the capability of).

That’s a way around it. But 99% of the others will try to pull it up in the ticket line.

The fact more people don’t mention Mike Compton is amazing. He won the Rimington trophy at WVU, blocked for Barry Sanders during his 2000 yard season and then won a couple of Super Bowls blocking for Tom Brady. If Meadows has half of that success Graham fans will talk about him for generations. 😂

Did you watch the game closely? How did RV get it back to 21-21? What did they do once it got to 21-21? It’s right there on the film and why we were so damn frustrated all year. Too much credit is given to Graham’s defensive adjustments (which were always good and appropriate) and not enough blame is given to RV’s complete lack of adjustments or refusal to properly use their athletes.

George Wythe got back multiple players since the last game. They’ll learn from their mistakes. I’ll say GW by 14.

If Appo scores more points they should win this game.

Graham is using their speed incredibly well so far. Big plays on returns, and runs. Quick off the ends not giving QB much time. RV is in the game which is helpeful, thye are going to have to make some adjustments, they play Graham is physical, borderline dirty on some shots and got some calls for that. Part of that is to get in RV head no doubt, and it's working on the QB (IMO). As always I hate an announcer that is a cheerleader more than an announcer. Don't like it when it's for us, or against us, just takes away from the game to me.

Eddie Hall could shave before coming to school, have a 5 o'clock shadow by 1st period, and a full beard by the time he suited up for practice at 3:30. He and Jake Houseright were the only two players I've seen in high school who could dominate a game on both sides of the ball. Both were men among boys.
