  1. This is somewhat related to Tazewell Football and it's why I posted it here.  For the visiting fans who are in the know, over in Burkes Garden, there is an Amish settlement.  I have been to the Amish restaurant and store over there for their incredible buffet before.  I have gone even before watching a game at Tazewell.  Well, recently as some may know, a portion of the family members that were involved with that great Amish restaurant were killed in Wisconsin.  9 people died in a tragic Van accident as they took a Van from Burkes Garden and up to Wisconsin for some type of Amish Conference.  The only survivor was a 2 year old (I think he's two) toddler.  I have no idea what will happen with that little Amish Store-Restaurant over there, but that place was fantastic.  It's a real tragedy and this has made national news.  Prayers for the Amish community and family members in Burkes Garden and that little guy who survived and is now without parents and will have to deal with that for the rest of his life.  There is a Go Fund Me Page if you are interested.

Clements commits to VT as preferred walk on.

Smart choice in my opinion, but that's looking at it from the outside. Each person and situation is different and unique and there is no one size fits all. Kid's a baller and from watching him a few times, tough as nails.

  3. I can't watch soccer at all....on TV or live whether grade school, high school, or pro. I can't stand it. But every 4 years, the World Cup comes around and I hear voices and have delusions of grandeur and try to watch every single match and I absolutely love it. Pure schizophrenia and I can't put my finger on it, but that's how it is.  After the World Cup, thinking I'm now into soccer, I tune in every 4 years to a Pro Soccer game soon after the World Cup is watched and I watch for 2 minutes, then turn the channel until the next 4 years come around for the World Cup. Am I a soccer fan? I have no idea how to answer it.

Yes I know of at least one official who worked the Auburn/Lancaster game.

Heck of a game. Auburn certainly had their chance. I figured this game was going to be tight. Just two evenly matched teams. Newsflash.....my opinion only.....the Head Coach at Lancaster is a better On The Floor coach than the guy at John Marshall. It is hard to evaluate JM because their coach has to balance minutes, looks, attempts for players regarding recruiting and if I were in that situation, I would do the same. You kind of have to, but no question, the guy at Lancaster is very very good as well.

I'll complain before, during and after if I so choose......

And at ZERO times did I write that you couldn't complain.  It's your choice.  I've also complained.  We all have opinions.  I just wrote.....that in my opinion.....it's a bit unfair if someone all of a sudden starts doing their complaining AFTER the game is played.....AFTER Va High chose to play the game and that In My Opinion, it's a bad take.  That's all I wrote.

I will write this again.  For fans of teams that make it to the state title or play JM in regular season, it's one thing as to whether you have a say so in playing them.  Most fans certainly don't have any say so.  But if you are an administrator or have some kind of influence on whether your team can play them or not,  then you are just as guilty as JM is.....again....in my opinion.  We all know that what is going on is unfair, or at least 90% of people likely hold that view.  If it's unfair, then DO SOMETHING about .  Stop playing them.  Stop it with the narcissism and rationalization by claiming, "we can't take this opportunity away for our kids" which is something cloaked in narcissism and a hint that the team that plays JM would do EXACTLY the same thing JM is doing if they were in that situation.  Here's the sad part......90% of schools WOULD do the same thing.  That's the sickening part.  My post isn't directed to you personally Observer.  I respect your opinion and you complain any time you choose as to each is their own, but I'm making the general complaint point for basically anyone that has influence, an admin or coach that has the ability to not play them.......should not play them.

  6. Guys I think what yall are saying is spot on about JM, but..............you don't get to start complaining now AFTER THE FACT. The time for that from a VH perspective or any other Class 2 perspective is Before the game, and of course many on here including myself did exactly that. We talked about the unfairness BEFORE the game was played.,BUT..........once you play the game and you submit to the system and become a mutual party to the unfairness, you can no longer complain about the unfairness (in my opinion) it's a bad take.

I stand by my statement a week ago. VH should not have played the game. Complaining about it now, after the game has been played is way too little, way too late. From any other team in Class 2s perspective, if you continue to play them, then you make your choice. We all have free will. When we make a choice to play, live by those consequences without complaint. Same thing goes for any team that would refuse to play them, live by those consequences.

  7. 41-23 at the half with JM leading.  All the respect in the world to Va High.  Man, this bunch is something.  Mozzell (probably off on the spelling) could give a total of 2 rats arses about JM and how great they are.  That kid can play.   I know it sounds crazy and sure, VH is losing, but to be down by 18 at the half and holding them under 45 points is actually pretty darn impressive.  It will get worse in the 2nd half though as VH has major, major foul trouble.

  8. Well done by Wise-Central.  I had JM winning, but close.  I will keep my pick for the following years though.  This will be the last year that JM's girls lose in Class 2 for a while.  This what the time to get a W and state title and it looks like Wise pulled it off.

I don’t know the landscape of WV football but I do know they have a great coach! Coach Taylor is absolutely a class act. He cares about the kids and does a great job spreading the word which is something that is lost in this day and age of high school sports. What other coach would wear a shirt with a bible verse on in during the playoffs instead of the school colors! That tells me that he care more about what happens in these kids life’s long after that clock hits zero of that last game. I would want my son to play for a guy like that over a coach that wins multiple state championship but the kids get nothing out of it. Princeton will be winners as long as he is heading up that program regardless of what their record is.

Bam!  No doubt Jags52.  In addition to his character, dude is impressive on the offensive side of the ball.  Princeton had some great talent, but they didn't have superior overall talent in games 2 which was the quarterfinals and game 3 (semifinals) of the playoffs.  Those teams had just as much or more across the board, and Princeton out schemed them offensively.  Those defenses were on their heels from the opening kickoff.  When you get a great coach who is good in the leadership and character and logistics/organizational leadership department and you add to that the game of chess/his ability to separate himself x's and o's wise on the field, you get dangerous teams that do lots more winning than losing.  What you get is those 50-50 type games where the talent is equal or comparable and more times than not, it's that x's and o's/chess game mastery that puts the one opponent over the other in outcome.  I watched Princeton play Bluefield up there and I was amazed at how many people Princeton brought.  There home side is very, very big, appears to hold about 3,000 to 3,200 and they packed it.

  10. Princeton should definitely compete. I looked at the WV reclass system and counted 30 total AAA schools, so right off the bat 1 in 30 teams win a title and 1 in 15 teams will at least play for a state title.  The Tigers still have to contend with the likes of Fairmont Senior who moved up from AA and Herbert Hoover, Point Pleasant, etc. Interestingly, I see where Independence moves up to AAA. The Beavers stay AA. Princeton has a golden opportunity to do big things.  Teams like Hurricane, Morgantown, Parkersburg and Parkersburg South, Martinsburg are now rightfully in AAAA.

  11. I got all the respect in the world for Princetons coach. I'm biased because he's also a Christian. But, we still got to keep stuff in perspective here guys. Princeton had never advanced past the 2nd game of the playoffs until last year and until last year, had only been to the 2nd game of the playoffs just a few times in its history.

Yes, a solid team last year, but the stars and moon aligned to where there were crazy upsets in round 1 and 2 that allowed them to somehow play at home in playoff games 2 and 3 before playing the state title game which is game 4 in WV. Princeton was supposed to travel in games 2 and then game 3 if there wouldn't have been pretty decent size upsets which both happened.

Princeton lost a kid to WV and one to Air Force. They lost 2 Div 1 players. They will be good again, but Princeton with this current run is only like 3 years deep. There's still no indication that they are completely over the hump and now in the realm of a powerhouse program.  Jury is still out on them. I tend to think they keep trending up, but history is NOT on my side at all. History would say otherwise, but history is a weak predictor. The coach they have is incredible, on and off the field, but I truly believe the jury is still out.

Reckon Central can keep it within 30 points?

They absolutely will. I think they keep it within 10.  Adding to what Sixcat wrote about Liberty and that new roster look, this is the perfect example of why we should pay Zero attention to a statement regarding "how many senior starters" a Liberty or JM has. It means nothing. They can have 10 seniors that dress and no juniors, and the following year, they may be better than what they were the previous year.

I'm a Christian. I like Liberty a whole lot more than most on here. I know there are faults but also positives. Here is my objective opinion. LCA has ZERO business being allowed to compete with/play for public VHSL titles in ANY sport. You are either public or you are private, period.  Just my take. I think the lawsuit by Liberty was atrocious and wrong, and a bad look for Liberty.

  13. There is more to it with Jennings going to Princeton in my opinion. The Div 1 looks are already there right now at Graham. He's already in the recruiting realm and we'll entrenched into Div 1 programs radars. I think this might be related to a more personal, school thing. You don't announce in the middle of a school year that you are making a decision to go to a nearby school. You do that at the end of a year. 90 plus percent of the time, that announcement on social media would have a strong Emotional component. A strong emotional component along with the time of the announcement (middle of the school yr and not the end of the school yr) leads one to believe that there has been some type of event, a one or two time event related to school that quickly and emotionally led to that announcement. This is my opinion. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.

  14. The difference in the game was Auburn's ability to adjust offensively.  After the 1st quarter, notice the spacing and cutting and passing by Auburn and offensive sets they would start in for a halfcourt set.  It was DIFFERENT.  That's coaching.  Auburn's coach will adjust on a dime if sees something that he feels will be favorable and his decision is usually favorable.  All coaches or most coaches make adjustments and try things and sometimes it works out well and sometimes it doesn't. Auburn's Coach seems to adjust just a little quicker than 99% of his peers and his decisions made with adjustments seem to turn out to be the correct one's a much higher rate than 99% of his peers.   With all that written, Honaker is a also a well coached team and they looked pretty darn good out there also.
