  3. Honest question. Do you think the VHSL "likes" what is going on or are they just handcuffed by the lack of finances to fight it?
  4. It is all about the package that each entity puts together. Obviously WVU has the Ace of Spades when it comes to a stadium. 95% of WV high school players would prefer the life experience of playing at WVU. Marshall is nice but it is not where WV players dream of playing. But you also have to show volunteers willing to fill hundreds of duties. You have to have corporate sponsors to provide meals, souvenirs, rooms, logistics, etc. Bluefield checks all the boxes except rooms and meals. This is why they tried to work with Princeton but Princeton really wasn't that interested because most of these businesses really aren't located in the city limits. Charleston checks all of the boxes. Morgantown and Huntington put in a bid to rotate the championships but all my information shows it was hastily put together and was lacking in details. The new director of the WVSSAC is from Charleston. The previous one is from Wheeling. When the last bidding was done four years ago the previous director openly admitted Bluefield's bid was a little better than Wheeling's but he was just comfortable with what Wheeling did and was keeping it there. No one else bid on the games four years ago except Bluefield and Wheeling.
  5. Most of the Virginia schedules are going to be the same since it will be the 2nd year of the two year schedule cycle. But if anyone sees this and has a confirmed schedule with dates and places please post it. I only post ones that I have independently confirmed.
  6. Most of this is complete rubbish. First when you do a true financial assessment Tazewell County comes out way ahead renting Mitchell Stadium. It costs way more in primary and secondary costs to have a stadium. Think insurance, security, utilities, maintenance, etc. Second. Graham and Bluefield alternate first pick for games. Last year Bluefield had to move two dates to accommodate Graham and Graham had to move one date. Next season there are once again three conflicts. If that remains Graham will move two and Bluefield one. There was a time 25 or so years ago when neither paid rent. It is true at that time Bluefield always got first pick. But when Graham started paying rent that they insisted on equal access to dates and the home side. They were granted those requests. Third. Is Graham going to pay rent for the one home game with Bluefield every other year? Is Graham just going to let Bluefield be home every year and use WV Referees and rules? Is Graham going to let Bluefield be home every year and let Bluefield keep all of the gate receipts instead of splitting the gate every year like they do now? Now having said that the soccer field issue is a valid point. The soccer team generates almost no revenue so it does make sense to look for an alternative to the gouging the soccer complex charges.

  10. Well now they have dropped Hurricane and Picked up an away game at Winfield. Hurricane was AAAA in the new classifications and Winfield is AAA. Princeton is AAA.
  11. They are working on it. When I know you will know.

Bluefield moved 2 of 3 conflicts last season so I suspect Graham will move 2 of the 3 to Thursday in 2024.

  17. Most of the time this is true but not always. Graham and Giles it is true as they have told me so.
  18. They are holding Essex down because of a weaker schedule. Which again proves your schedule has NOTHING to do with how good you are.
  19. Maybe it is already time to move Riverheads up to 3A and let them play Liberty??
  20. Clements was injured and played at about 60% when he played at all in the earlier Graham - Union game.
