Arby's Classic game 6 final. Kell 92, Greeneville 42. The Longhorns are legit and are the front runner for heavy betting favorite to get to game 30 on Saturday for the Arby's title. They'll face Harlan County in quarterfinal 2 on Thursday. Greene Devils fall to the losers bracket and will face Oak Ridge on Thursday morning.

Arby's Classic game 4 final. Mentor 99, Sullivan East 76 Cardinals set the Arby's Classic single game record with 17 made 3's Mentor advances to Thursday's quarterfinals to play George Wythe Sullivan East drops to the losers bracket to play Dorman on Thursday morning.

Well with Mentor up 23 at the half, it's safe to say Mentor and G-Dub will meet in Thursday's first quarterfinal. Going to be a blast to watch. G-Dub love to shoot three's. Mentor has always and still do love to shoot three's. Get to Viking Hall early for Thursday's evening session. Going to be fun.

Carroll County girl (I believe it was Ervin, actually, but not 100% sure) and Honaker girl were both going for an inbounds pass and the Carroll County girl yanked the Honaker girl down by the ponytail. Wasn't called a foul, just out of bounds, possession Carroll County. Honaker fans went a little to the extreme on Facebook 1)because it wasn't called a foul, so they went mad on the refs and 2)thought the play by the Carroll County girl was dirty, decrying she should "lose her scholarship", "be banned for the season", etc. which is why I assume it was the Ervin girl. I don't know what she looks like so that's why I don't know for sure it was her.

Was there any retribution for the ponytail grab that went viral a couple of weeks ago, that Honaker fans decried a little to the extreme for?

Ridgeview beat Grundy head to head already. After seeing both, I would surmise Ridgeview would beat Virginia High as well.

I guess Jonesboro wasn't better than Hoover after all. Hoover beat them pretty handily. It's Hoover vs. Winter Haven in the finals. Winter Haven destroyed Perry Central as I imagined they would since Perry barely beat a below average D-B team. D-B beat Westside in an upset and will play Hampton today who beat Gate City yesterday. 7th place: Westside vs. Gate City 5th place: Dobyns-Bennett vs. Hampton 3rd place: Perry County Central vs. Jonesboro Championship: Winter Haven vs. Hoover

Won't win 13th region though. That's going to the future Vol killer Trent Noah and the Harlan County Black Bears. 🙂

Of the coverage area teams form this site, I would go with Castlewood as my top, then Lebanon, then Virginia High. Of gyms I have seen overall, Perry County Central in Kentucky is #1 by a long mile. Was there for the 14th region semifinals last year, the Combs Arena is listed at 3,800 capacity I believe. There were folks standing around all around the upper concourse cause there were no seats left, so I would say there were close to 4,300 in there for the two region semifinals last year. The 15th region two years ago had probably close to 8,000 in attendance, but it was played at Appalachian Wireless Arena in Pikeville, not a purpose built high school gym. High school basketball in Kentucky is just on another level as compared to the other states in the area.

Against Dorman? Ha! They will have a fighter's chance in the 6th place bracket, however if they're playing a northeast Tennessee school, the refs will probably give benefit of the doubt calls to the Tennessee school. Just ask Twin Springs fans that these last couple of years.

In regards to the Alpha, the first round was held last night... as you might expect all three local teams got beat. Hampton by 33, Gate City by 51 and D-B by only 5 but Perry County Central wasn't all that either to be honest. I didn't see any of the Jonesboro and Hampton game, but I heard Jonesboro looked better than Hoover. Will probably be Jonesboro and Winter Haven in the finals. I will be shocked if ANY of the local teams play within 20 points of their opening round competition next week at Arby's.

Since D-B is off this week, I took the opportunity to go watch the Pack last night. Best I have ever seen a Ridgeview boys team look. Very good shooting, great passing and sharing of the ball and great rebounding. I was very impressed.

Paintsville knocked them out that year they played Ridgeview with the QB that went on to play for Kentucky. But yeah, typically Pikeville has had their number. Hazard knocked them out in 2020 on a very wet muddy field that didn't fit well with their style of offense that year, or else we could be talking about five straight for Pikeville.

Today made their 8th. Second time they've won three straight. 1987-1989, 2015, 2019, 2021-2023

Another Kentucky score of interest to SWVA folks, especially those in Lee County since it borders Bell County, would be the Bell County and CAL 3A title game tomorrow, although Bell County has a tall order to win that one I'm afraid.
