  1. Who would've thought coming into the season that Ridgeview could possibly finish 2nd in the Mountain 7 didstrict? I'm a Ridgeview guy obviously, and even I would've told you, you were insane. Having watched Abingdon against Virginia High, I really like the Pack's chances in this one. A Ridgeview win would guarantee the Pack no worse than second in the district. The friendly confines and mountain air of Rose Ridge should make a huge difference. How many people will make the trip over from Abingdon? How many times will I get asked directions from Abingdon to Ridgeview in the coming days? Anyways, back to the game. I am thinking something like: Wolfpack 21, Falcons 17 I may change my mind between now and next Friday, but I really believe we can pull this off.
  2. Well, you were right on one side of the equation. Like TTownTigers, being right 1 out of every 13 tries is something to be proud of I guess. Tally ho!
  3. Party like it's 1999 in Clinchport. Hopefully @1inStripes has plenty of party trays and adult beverages for all of us. :)
  4. Epic fail. Go ahead and pick that for next week too while you're at it.
  5. Nice! Be sure on your way out of the stadium tonight to point at the scoreboard when encountering every fan wearing Central colors you see. Lol.
  6. I'm going to pick Lee 77, Gate City 7 just because Grapeape picked that ridiculous score over in the Ridgeview/Battle thread.
  7. Sour "grapes" (pun intended) after that ass kicking a couple of weeks ago? Wow, dude... all those beatdowns you've been getting, you probably need to get your head examined...
  8. 1999. What a fun night that was. Started the night in Pound at the Haysi/Pound game, we go down by 4 scores in the first half. This whole time, we get score updates through the PA on the Kelly/PV game, and how good of a game it sounds. I look at my buddy, and I'm like, we're beat, let's roll on up to Wise and catch the end of that game. So we do, and watch Kelly finish the massive upset. As we're rolling back through Pound, we see that a single car hasn't left and we look at each other like... "This game isn't over yet?!" So, we go back in, and it's tied 28-28. We catch the last minute of regulation and the OT of what was a wild 34-28 comeback victory for Haysi. Which was also a huge upset. That Pound team went on to lose in the Division 1 state championship game that year. That game is still on YouTube today in 2 parts. The video quality is horrible, but it was one of the best high school football games you'll see.
  9. Per Tim Hayes on Twitter, the VHSL has announced that the state semis will be held at the higher rated (based on power points) team's facility. This should make some Union folks pleased, if you guys make it there. ;)

  11. Better than it used to be actually. They have a dirt road leading up the hill behind the school now, so you can park in the grass and stuff.
  12. At the bottom of the hill would be a good start. They're not called the Walmart Warriors for nothing you know....
  13. Yes, more run than pass... but definitely more a mixed bag this year than in years past. Sproles and Adkins are the backs and either are capable of taking it to the house on carries or special teams. At receiver they still have Hensley and Counts as well as Carroll from last year, although Carroll didn't have his coming out party till after the Battle game last year. Against Grundy last year he had 4 TD's receiving. QB is still Mullins. We pretty much have everyone back from last year with just the Freshman Adkins added to the mix, just more of a mixed bag in the play calling department.
  14. Whaaaaaaaat? That's your boy Peyton Manning's pizza you're talking about! For shame! :D
  15. Hmmmm... I've been known to make the 40 mile drive from work on my lunch break to go to Dip Dog and back. And you're telling me there's something else in Seven Mile Ford to try? Wow... :D
  16. It's coming down to crunch time. My question is, simply, who is going to win the Southwest District?
  17. Neither. Rye Cove gets a win this weekend and Richlands is not missing the playoffs.
  18. You have to remember Ryan, this is the guy who doesn't even know who is in his own conference and region... and thought Battle and Ridgeview were 1A schools.
  19. That probably still won't fire up Richlands folks, but if you threaten to burn down the Bearded Moose on the other hand, it's on like Donkey Kong then. :D
  20. Rose BOWL or Rose BUD as in Rosebud festival or whatever it is in Honaker? Lol
  21. I have a few differences as far as averages go, but everyone is in the same place in both 2D and 2C as listed here. Also, I don't include Nelson County in my 2C list because they're not playoff eligible. So why bother worrying about them if they can't even compete past week 11. Lol.
  22. Sorry for my delay as I ended up being very busy Friday night, hanging out in Charlottesville yesterday with UVAObserver and coming home and crashing last night and getting caught up today... 1D Unofficial: Patrick Henry 18.28571 Grundy 17.16667 Castlewood 16 Hurley 15.14286 Chilhowie 14.66667 Thomas Walker 14.57143 Eastside 14.5 Honaker 12.5 Northwood 12 J. 23. If the unionbearslive Twitter account says Lee brings My Little Pony lunchboxes to work, I can't wait to see what they say Central brings. I am hoping for a Union 87-0 win, but feel like it will be more like a 56-0 type score.
  24. Off week came at a good time for us. Wished Mullins would have still been in the Central lineup when Battle played them Friday night, so there could be a comparison because you can't deny they're an entirely different team without him under center. We beat them with Mullins under center soundly. Battle beat them without him under center soundly. I'm going with the Pack in a close one. A blocked XP makes the difference: Wolfpack 28, Trojans 27
